Chasing mileage is how you get injured all in the name of chasing some stupid and insignificant streak.
The race results don't show how many consecutive weeks training you have had over 100 mpw.
Why are you obsessed with 2:35 marathons? Seriously, I want to know.
Chasing times is how you get injured all in the name of chasing some stupid and insignificant number.
Look, unless you are earning a living (or a scholarship) in this sport, the point, the ONLY point, is to enjoy it. If you think otherwise, you are deluding yourself with the false grandiosity typical of current generations.
Enjoying it can be whatever that means to you. Maybe you enjoy trying to break 2:35. Maybe someone else enjoys trying to run 100+ miles per week. Maybe I enjoy racing every weekend, even if I don't run the fastest time I could.
Why the eff do you care what someone else takes pride in, compared with you?
