the 50% rule is to prevent a wind aided performances. It used to be 30% but was changed a few years back to 50%

I got it from Monti's tweet, he's normally extremely reliable. I have not actually seen a course elevation profile. If the finish is higher than the start, it still wouldn't matter if the start line and finish line are more than 5 miles apart. Both provisions of the rules need to be in place to allow performances at a race to be eligible for US records.
Oh yeah I know. Just didn't know where that info came from. Its definitely wrong. Crazy thing is the gentle breeze was actually in her face too. Too bad it isn't record eligible because it was definitely record-worthy

Thanks!
Does anybody have the all time 10mi list (not including en route times) for US women runners? Top 10 or 20 all time would be great! Or provide a link if you know where this list would be held. On the live feed yesterday they said Huddle needed to run 53:16 to get a top 10 all time performance. That would put Neely Gracey and Alexi Pappas potentially in the top 10 all time after yesterday.
Pretty incredible if 3 of the top 10 all time performances were ran on a slightly uphill course with a head wind.
Yeah I mean either way she completely dominated this race by over a minute and that's what really matters most.
Bump.

Did she run through the tape?
Well, whatever you do, don't try to find it at the usatf.org site. On the "all-time list" page, they only have marathon lists that haven't been updated since... 2011?!? http://www.usatf.org/statistics/All-Time-Lists.aspxEven the records site hasn't been updated for 10 months. Can't they find an intern to update their stats? If they can't make sure these sites are accurate they really should just take them down...

The elevation data seem strange for the Twin Cities races. There are two different versions of the marathon course certification (slight course changes) and one says "slight rise" and the other says "slight fall", even though they start in basically the same place on 6th St in Minneapolis.
The ten mile starts on 3rd St which is at a lower elevation than 6th St (gradual slope down to Mississippi), but hard to figure that the elevation change from 3rd to 6th is 16m (several stories).
I ran the 10 mile and my Garmin (i know, i know) records a 9m gain in elevation over the course.
Google maps says the elevation gain is about the same.
In any event the 78% straight-line distance between start and finish makes this record-ineligible. Most years you get a tailwind (northwesterly) on this course. Yesterday was a mild headwind. So the performance is excellent.
