I was on a Tinder date last night and was a little drunk. The girl and I ended up slipping into a conversation about politics, and I realized very quickly that we were on opposite sides of the spectrum. My primary goal last night was to go home with this girl, so instead of getting into a political debate, I just sided with her and started supporting her opinions.
She caught a whiff of sarcasm from me, I think, and kind of called me out on it. To prove to her that I was sincere (and to simultaneously show her that I make a lot of money), I said I'd donate $500 dollars to her candidate's campaign on the spot, which I did. Well, the move worked because we went back to her place and such, but now I'm wondering if I can get my money back. I'm not sure if it would be wise to dispute the charge with my CC company. Would the campaign refund me directly? Or am I just out $500?
I know it was stupid. For $500 I could've gotten a working girl and not fueled a socialist campaign. I feel dumb about this. Should I try to get my money back or just let this thing go?
