Seriously, I personally know of two guys and a 3rd who got up to 197.

What were their PR's?
Why didn't they do 3 more for an even 200:)
207 on my turbo busa in mexico
Varying degress of success.
One 200-mile guy broke 2:12, the second 200-mile guy got down to 2:35 and the 197-mile guy got a 2:32.
All 3 guys trained in trainers, not flats, by the way.
Gerry Lindgren got WAY over 200 mpw.
This board makes way too much out of training in flats. Miles matter, races matter, workouts matter, sneakers matter (very little though, compared to everything else). And training in flats could cause a lot more harm than it's worth. Emil Zatopek trained in boots, maybe up to 200 MPW too!

Any other commentary on their apparel? Did they prefer socks or no? Which wrist did they wear their watches on?
All wear their watches on their left wrists.
All wear socks for training, sometimes no socks for racing.
All 3 are married, 2 more than once.
All are male and over 40.
Do you need any more data? I can get it.
How many of them think that Hollywood Sqares went downhill after Whoopi left the center square?

1. What was their favorite colors?
2. How many Shi$ts did they do per day?
3. What time of the day were they born?
Has anyone on the board gone over 200mpw?
What about those two guys who did 7 marathons in 7 days on 7 continents? I know that's only 183...
that was crazy...how much does say a lance armstrong bike per day for training?
Jerry Lawson. pr=2:09:35. American record, Chicago.
i bet zatopek's boots didn't have air gel cushioning, motion control and medial post support crap though
If racking up miles is all you're concerned about, 200MPW is pathetic. Lots of people have done 400-500 MPW. Check out the Sri Chinmoy 3100 miler. That's a couple weeks of solid base my friend. Boy, with their mileage that high, I bet if they ran a marathon, they gotta be way under 2 hours.
SRR,
I am going to have to disagree with you that running in lower profile shoes only makes a minor difference. You may not care about having an efficient stride but I bet if you asked almost every elite runner they would say that they want to have the most efficient form possible. You can't have the same natural gait with a High profile trainer and the extra cushion only impedes with your feet and ankles natural stabilizing ability. When you examine each aspect of the minimalistic approach you can see that it will help ones training dramatically. Unfortunately it is hard to find studies which expain it in a clear and understanding way. But you can bet that most podiatrist and shoe companies don't won't you to believe that you can walk and run without an expensive support/cushion shoe, that you must replace every 3 months mind you.

Incidentally, he also holds the course record in Jacksonville (which was run last Sunday with beautiful weather) at 2:14:xx.

Not even in the car! My engine's aerobic capacity is still building!
