Hi!
I'm a 19 year old runner from germany and go still to high school (in Germany you have to go to school for 13 years...).
After school I have to do my military service (which is duty in Germany).
So I will be raedy for going to college/university in march 2004. The thing is that I don't want to study in Germany but in the USA. The problem is that I have absolutely no idea how I can get into a DI school and maybe get some financial aid. The academics are not as important to me as a good running is.
I've read the book "Running with the Buffaloes" and I think Colorado would be great but I can imagine that it is very hard to get in there. ;-)
Ok, I want to tell you my times from the last year:
3000m in 8:20
And, sorry, that's it. I've ran only this one race because of an injury. Before this race I was for 6 weeks not able to do tempo workouts, I did only long jogs and easy running. After this important race I ended the season and cured my injury. So I am not one of those "trained-to-the-limit" guys.
Now I'm very motivated for the upcoming season in which I want to concentrate on the 5k.
I think a time around 14:30 is realistic.
So my question:
Have I a shot to get with those times in a good DI school and could I myabe get some kind of a little scholarship?
I'm happy about any answer and please excuse my bad english.
I'm sure it will improve if I stay a longer (hopefully a very long) time in the States. ;-)
Martin
