agreed. On the men's side, it'll be 1500m/marathon/steeple.
I don't see the 800m/5000/100000m broken anytime soon.

Men's:
Van Niekerk will go after the 400m again next year. But it'll be weather dependent, London can have some terribly cold wet days in the middle of summer, which could put pay to it.
The 1500m can only be broken by Kiprop at the moment and since Rosa got busted for pushing hot sauce, Kiprop's form has gone. Not in 2016. That goes for the mile as well.
To break the 3000mSC one would need to be at Mo's pb for 3000m, around 7:30-32. What current runners can do that since the blood passport has come in?
100m is out of touch at present. So is the 5k & 10k.
200m is reliant upon Bolt's health and head. Otherwise it is out of reach as well.
The current Marathon record can only be shaved, not broken, only 2 secs here 3 secs there, unless Bekele gets back in sub 27 shape and then runs in Berlin etc.
800m, Rudisha is still top of the pile but he is past his WR days, it will take another quick 400m guy to break this record, and they are not on the seen at present. Though it is a shiny jewel waiting to be taken.
In summary, the 400m is the most likely to be broken but it is far from the weakest WR.
Women's:
Provided the Ayana stays "legally clean," the 5k could be next or the 10k.
Also, the 3000mSC will go soon.
The 100m, 400m are untouchable, 200m will take some effort and drugs.
Semenya could do the 800m, but she isn't incentivized to do so because there will be howls about her gender again. Nation's who's athletes go 2nd, 3rd and 4th in Rio will feel cheated out of medals etc.
1500m, the spotlight is on Dibaba, we all know she's doing something, so just like Semenya in the 800m she is dis-incentivized to stick out too much until the Jama situation is resolved, for her a gold in Rio will do.
Only some of the Ethiopians currently running the 10k can break Paula's marathon record.
There is a likelihood that the women 3000m Sc record can be broken this morning. While Jebet has said that she will not front run, I don't see why she wouldn't. She's like Ayana, no kick but use her strength to grind her opponents to submission. Either she or Kivyeng will break the record.

Jebet is just trying to play mind games when she says she doesn't plan to front run. That is the only way she knows she will survive against Kiyeng. She probably is also trying to bait the Kenyans to use Beatrice Chepkoech who is an excellent front-runner to as a pacer. That way she can bite her time and take off with 4 laps left. Either way Kiyeng is not going to let her go this time. Expect fireworks.
Womens 3000mSC and 5000m are next, or Caster.
