I think if you asked this question at a random time of the year I would still say men's marathon, but since Berlin is coming up I'll double down on that.

I think it will be the 1500
womens 5k
Is ryuns 1-39 totally out of reach?
What about bekeles 25-50 10k ,could MO challenge it?
There are a lot of people so far who have said the women's 1500m will be next. Are you guys suggesting that Dibaba will break her own record again just for fun, or that the current depth in that event will push some other girl to do so?

Her pace was so uneven that it is a weak record (for her)
these newer bouncy mondo tracks definitely suit
middle distances . bejing and monaco so far .
mens steeple and 1500m
And with such an amazing peptide IGF-1 lr3
that guarantees when can peak and speed to booth.
and sure that will be seeing this ped at berlin marathon
like last year .

The W1500 will be around for some time, like it was previously. What we saw was lightning in a bottle, and I bet Dibaba never breaks 3:54 again.
I disagree. Although I think the women's 5000m will go down first, I think you're wrong about Dibaba. Dibaba should (probably will) target the 1500m next year for the following reasons:
1. She is better at the explosive power that comes with a 1500m rather than the strength of the 5K despite running 14:15 (note: Dibaba could definitely take down Tiru's record, but I think Ayana will beat her to it).
2. In the 1500m, she isn't against one of the all time greats at the distance. Sure, Hassan, Kipyegon, Simpson and many others are very strong, but none of them have shown any type of form even close to Dibaba. Whereas, in the 5k, she has Ayana and possibly Tirunesh and Meseret to fight just to get on the team.
3. Ethiopia wants as many golds as possible. Due to the moronic schedule of next year's olympics, Dibaba will have to take her pick. If she picks the 1500m, Ethiopia will get gold in both the events. However, if she picks the 5000m, Ethiopa will likely only get gold in the 5000m because Seyaum is the only other top-class 1500m athlete but most likely not the champion.
Whatever even Dibaba chooses--probably the 1500m but who knows-- will result in a world record.
Zero records will be set IF WADA does their job... ZERO because 100% of the records were set on the hot sauce...
Mo should be able to run the 5 or 10k records next year if he so chooses.
The Ethiopian 5000m trials next year will be better than the Olympics. How many times do you have the top 4 in history in the same race?

Geb, Bekele, Komen, and Sihine will be racing in the Ethiopian 5000m trials next year?

If Wayde Van Niekerk improves by half as much as he did this year (.9) he could break Michael Johnson's 400 WR.
Wow. Nice call 11 months ago.
Rudisha's going sub 1:40 tomorrow.

With Bosse right in front of him.
Well, I mentioned a day or two ago that records to be broken in the 400m(M), 800m(W) and 3000m(W) steeple chase. So next after the 400m is women steeples then Semenya to do her thing. Rudisha looks to retain his title but will not run faster than 1:42. 400m(W) will be explosive but the WR is just a little beyond the reach for now.

No, it was Soprano first.
I know this is an old thread, but I think the Women's 5k has to go next. I can't see Ayana doing anything other than gunning it the whole way round.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
