wow !!!
you ever run a 1'44-solo then few minutes later a 500 at 1'43.6 pace !!!
then followed it with a 52+ & 39+ a few minutes even after that ???!!!
that was a fantastic work-out & anyone with a clue indicates someone capable of something like a 1'42-low in a fully rested, perfectly run 800
very impressive
i'm no coach but read enough workouts to believe you shouda been capable of coupla secs quicker than 1'48.1 if had run your best possible flat-out 800 & nothing saved for 200 reps
that gets you a 1'46.0
yes
your problem
very few, even elite guys run their best possible 800 :
- i already stated that maloofi in his then 1'43.71pb shortly after games ran ~ 6.5m wide on bends -> ~ 1'42.8+ if route-1, tight in lane-1
he also jogged the start at 25.4s when 24-high is expected if chasing a fast pb - he threw away plenty of tenths right there
compounding this was an outrageous, ruinous sprint to get upto aman at bell which wouda cost plenty more tenths for an ideal race
that gets him to ~ 1'42-low & probably 1'42-flat at games when in actual peak shape
he still has a 1'43-mid pb to today, so even an elite pb for 800 indicates nothing for actual 800 ability given perfect race
- souly this year has run 1'42.97pb
go watch it
it had ridiculous amount extra run on bends ~ 8.5m & with little drafting & he gave up somewhat at finish when knowing he was beat
that indicates ~ ( 800 / 808.5 ) * 1'42.97 = 1'41.88
& with his lack of drafting on 1st lap & slight giving up at end, we are talking a perfect 800 for him of route-1 all the way & paced perfectly for the 200+m upto bell at ~ 1'41.5 !!!
this shows that even a 1'42.97pb can be nonsense
- Rudy running 1'40.91WR of near suicidal 23.4 to immediately break the field !!!
more sensible 24.4 + pacing for 200+m to bell & no fatigue of rounds in his legs, he wouda been looking at ~ 1'40-low in a zurich or brussels
even the wr holder can claim his pb was nowhere representative of his ability
nonsense
the bike wasn't ahead of him all the time & he followed up with a quicker paced 500 & slightly slower 400 & 300
anyone with a clue woud know that indicated something great in the 1'42s if a 1-off fully rested perfect 800
no offence to great man but this doesn't seem possible for him or probably anyone
for a start, 1'25.3 = 1'13.1 pace for 600m which is only fractionally quicker than his 1'12.8wr
this means that 700 was virtually his wr pace for 600 held on for another 100m !!!
not likely at all
then :
Rudy in 1'40.91 split 1'27.3
in his 1'41.01 he split 1'27.6
in his 1'41.09 he split 1'27.3
then from calculator, assuming johnny had 45.0 - 45.5 speed at the time, which is wide range but it shoud encompass his 400 shape at time of this 700
45.0 - 45.5 with various 800s for a theoretical 700m :
1'42.0 ->1'27.3 - 1'27.4
1'41.0 ->1'26.6 - 1'26.7
1'40.0 ->1'25.9 - 1'26.0
we have already got down to 1'40.0 & his theoretical 700 is still nowhere close to 1'25.3
to get to 1'25.3 with 45.0 - 45.5 indicates theoretical 800 of :
45.0 - 45.5 / 1'25.3 ->1'39.03 - 1'39.27
no runner shoud collapse so badly from his theoretical 800 off a 700tt to actual 800
that 1'25.3 is likely a typo or wrong timing &/or distance...
