There weren't many food options near my hotel, so I walked to the acorn-cruncher store. Wow, the smugness of the clientele was suffocating. Holier than thou.

People who feel the need to write things like this should also ask if they, perhaps, are themselves a bit too smug.
You should've seen the look the cashier gave me when she learned I didn't have my own, reusable grocery bag. Barf.

I wished there was a Wal-Mart in the area, but there wasn't.
Did you at least have a starter douche-bag beard going?
Pics?

Did you ask for your groceries to be double bagged in plastic?

The Wal-Mart is just east of the airport where many of the hotels are. There's also a Hanaford supermarket a little west of the airport. If you were staying near the lakefront the Price Chopper isn't too far away.
If your story is even true, you chose to go to that store so that you could come on LetsRun and make this thread.
Did you at least ask them what aisle the head cheese and vienna sausages were on?

No, that was the look of someone horrified by the sight of a severely underweight and muscle-less runner.

I didn't have a rental car and wouldn't entertain the option of taking a taxi to buy food. So, I walked to the food.

There are buses as well. Sounds to me like you didn't plan very well and are complaining about it.
I can't think of a single hotel in Burlington that is within walking distance of an organic market but not a restaurant or supermarket.

Yes, I agree that I should've planned better. That's definitely my fault. The city is beautiful and I enjoyed Church Street. But the people are pretty gross.
