My thoughts exactly! Shannon seems more intent on beating Jenny then running her own race.
Frankly I don't think Jenny is worried about Shannon one bit. She has much bigger fish to fry.
Shannon wants to be the best U.S. female in 1500 and really really wants want beat Jenny. Jenny is looking at improving and striving to be her best and represent team U.S.A.
You are being foolish and clearly a little bit upset right now. This is a RACE. There are no style points. Fair tactics are allowed. Simpson now has a Rowbury problem (as well as a Dibaba, Hassan, Kipyegon and Cherono problem), plain and simple. She would be wise to start focusing on how to beat all of these women. In the 1500, she can't outrun them she can't outkick them.
A few other points:
1. Rowbury actually tried to go for it in the WC final. She was the leader of the chase pack trying to close the gap. The Brit (Muir) and Aregawi sat on Rowbury, blowing by her in the last 100.
2. When Rowbury lost her shoe half way into the USA Champ semi-final, she kept her head in the race and ran a sub 60 last lap without a shoe to make the final. When Simpson lost her shoe at WCs, she gave up.
3. I'm blind if I didn't notice Simpson trying to impede Rowbury (again) down the home straight of tonight's race. Rewatch the tape.
This is a real rivalry and it's fun to watch. I do wish them both the best.
