Regarding the Bolt incident though...many Chinese (including the TV reporter) seem to think of it as funny. Was it funny? Maybe just a fat guy on a segway crashing is funny, but how is the IAAF going to allow segways on the track after this? How was that not a safety concern? The dude was zooming in on Bolt's backend and got all affected and forgot he was a on a segway. The video I saw showed no reaction from him when his segway went up on the rail. He was way too otherwise engaged in filming Bolt's behind.
Not only do they present a safety hazard, they seem pretty pointless. What shot can you get from a segue that you couldn't get from your feet? In an era where a camera can take a clear picture from several miles away, I don't see why a photographer can't get his photo without entering the track.
