Seems the bias here is towards "real" food and while this is certainly healthier, no one has has mentioned stockpiling PowerBars, Clif Bars, etc. which is what I do. If I feel hungry around 3PM I can eat one or two bars with a big glass of water and even with my squeamish digestive tract I can work out two hours later with no problems. Eating sandwiches, raw fruit, etc usually affects me negatively in that way. Energy bars are clean, portable and have a long shelf life.
