He'll never run another sub 1.42
It was probably safe to say that from the get-go. He would have to better the world record by .92. No way that can happen. It's already superhuman that he can run 49 and then 50 high.
Of course it's safe to say. We have freedom of speech in the USofA.
What, did you think someone was going to hurt you?

Yes.
He can do it. His pr should be at least a second faster than his 2nd fastest time. Most runners have their pr at least 1 second faster than their 2nd best time. If he's feeling great one day he will do it.
This is true and from well placed sources.
The belief on the circuit is that Rudisha is a doper. He's got the perfect cover.
How long before these new reports are released and are we someday going to learn that a Father what's his name athlete or athletes were dopers?
Sad days in our sport now.

Yeah, the PEDs are coming from Brother Colm's boss, Pope Francis.
Are you also aware of the tunnel running from the IRS to the coffers of the Vatican Bank (the IOR), sporting away US taxpayer-dollars?
I remember for Rudisha's first race after the London final people were predicting what sort of time he'd run and whether he could break the world record again. One person's prediction (can't remember who) said that he'd lose and never break 1:42 again. Aman ended up winning in 1:42.37 and Rudisha has yet to break 1:42 since
Since 2012, Aman is the only one to have even broken 1:43 outside of Monaco. There are currently no legit 1:42 guys.
Now watch someone tell me 800 runners spend all year peaking for just one fast time trial.
Ok Mr. Trampoline Track Critic, what would Rudisha have run with a pacer in Monaco in his London 2012 fitness? 1:38?
I don't think Rudisha will return to his 2012 form, and I'd be surprised if he breaks 1:42.0 again.
I don't think he's a doper or ever doped. Just a freak of nature.
I think 1:40 high is about his limit. Yes he solo ran the current WR and would have been a few tenths faster with 200m of drafting, but I also believe the London track to be one of the fastest of the new Mondo ones. On a similar track to the ones Kipketer ran on, he'd have been a few tenths slower, so the 2 factors cancel each other out.
I really hope that I'm wrong and Rudisha can get close to his form from 2010 - 2012, and I hope he wins in Beijing.
Btw, there was an article in the IAAF website stating that Mondo have laid a new track in the Beijing stadium which is the fastest yet! Just proves that some tracks are faster than others.
His chances of running a sub 1:40 now are about as good as me winning the lottery. It is possible but only because anything is possible.
It depends.
Are you betting your life on it or just saying it on a message board?
It's safe to say it on a message board.
If you have a bet where you win a million dollars if he doesn't do it by age 40 or you lose your life if he does, do you feel confident making that bet?
It was pretty safe to say that even a few minutes after he had just won the Olympic gold in 1.40.91
It was comical to me how many people thought this would be a foregone conclusion after this race.
Yes it was a fantastic run - the most perfectly executed front-run 800m in ideal conditions, with the most prized of incentives, that we have ever seen.
But 0.92 seconds is an immense amount of time given the world record had dropped 0.82 seconds in 31 years on that night in London.
It's not just this however - it's big picture. With so many sub 1min42 races under his belt, so many years of unfathomably hard training to get to this level - the man was only human and it was never going to last. How can we also appreciate the change in mindset after achieving the ultimate (WR and Olympic gold in such fashion). We can't.
A sub 1min40 800m requires around 1.13.5 at 600m with 26.4 for the last 200m. Rudisha was a second down at 600m in London - something I just could never see him doing, despite being the greatest front-running 800m exponent ever.
It is safe to say that, and, IMHO, it's safe to say that the next sub 1min40 "candidate" could also be very distant on the horizon too.
Seems to be. I just tried it and nothing happened.

No, it isn't.
You don't even know his splits, and you are declaring what is impossible? Just because it was a WR doesn't mean it was a perfect race, no matter how many people awed by his dominance assume it must have been "perfect."
You are wrong. In a better-paced race with his 2012 Olympic fitness, he could have certainly gone 1:40 low.

You are an idiot or a liar.
Either you don't know his splits, which makes you a LIAR to call it perfectly-executed, or you are an IDIOT who thinks these are perfect 800 splits:
23.4 / 25.9 / 25.0 / 26.9
STFU before you post nonsense.
I think 1:40 high is about his limit.
-----------------------------------------------
Surely if he had been paced to 600m he could have run faster?
The only reason that may not have worked is that rudisha seems happiest to run from the front with no pacer but physically he could have run mid 1:40's in London then if he'd not been injured sub 1:40 was at least possible for him
The op must be a genius to state the obvious!
I would love him come back to his best though as the guys claiming his No.1 spot over the last couple of years are nowhere near his level
