Hard tempo run- 5k estimated fitness level plus 20-25sec/mile. Downside is he should've continued on for at least another mile, but I suppose the RD wouldn't have liked him running right through the chute. I guess we don't know what he did prior to the effort or afterwards, so maybe he made up the difference elsewhere.

In what world is his 5k pace 14:10? His high school world in 2000 cross country?[/quote]

Your ending quotation marks belong outside the period. 😜

Attempting to correcting someone's understanding of punctuation usually doesn't go so well when your pronoun (plural--they) doesn't agree with your noun (singular--someone). And yes, in American English the quotation mark goes outside of the period; but in English (as in England) English the period goes outside the quotation mark. But I'm writing to say Ritz must be feeling fairly well because he's now running the Bobby Crim ten miler this Saturday.https://twitter.com/djritzenhein

He acts that way because he THINKS he's the cat's meow...you know, someone special. And no, he wouldn't react that way in real life, face to face as he's a toothpick with a big ego.

- why are you like that? I'm honestly curious. Do you react that way in real life face to face conversations?
It says he is going to be at Crim but it doesn't say he is racing...not that a 14:36 5k is racing for him. I know he is entered in New Haven for the 20K and doubt he would show up there if he wasn't ready to race.
Well, he does have bib # 39, which suggests he may be running!

This is cool. Makes you think why more elites don't show their faces at small-time local road races. Kudos to Ritz for putting himself out there.
Mrs. Ritz, who was a good runner in her day, came in 17th on the women's side.

Isn't he helping coach his old high school's XC team? The kid that finished second and several others in the top 10 look to be Rockford runners. Maybe he hung with them for a while.
As the other poster stated some kind of duties at GVSU. However I wouldn't be surprised he he did as you suggested. Pretty cool he ran locally so it is a possibility.
I wouldn't call his career as disappointing, but I'd definitely call him not running world cross this year VERY disappointing since he ran a few really good xc races where he won in Italy and then ran well at Edinburgh, considering it was just a 4k...and then was 3rd at USA xc. His 62:07 half in New York seemed solid but not that amazing.
Yeah I'll be there at the start, Bradley Hills and finish and if this site wasn't "allowed" to be such a cesspool, I'd happily share my photos and video, but unfortunately...

Well, if you posted photos and video of the race, I'd sure look at them.

Yeah, and you're actually one of the good ones so it truly bums me out. Hopefully I'll have a change of heart and maybe this place will one day too...but I doubt that.
