Sounds like Cap hasn't changed much in the last 20-25 years.
True, even longer, I have known him since his days at Chicago Heights Bloom High School in 1973-74. He would not be anything without Steve Miller.

That's why everyone always called Cap "Miller's son." I think very few people are aware of the close connection between Miller and Cap. Cap followed Miller in nearly every job. Cap replaced Miller as head coach at K-State and Miller even held essentially this same position at Nike prior to Cap. Therefore, they haven't connected the dots between Cap (global director of athletics at Nike, the same Nike which essentially owns USATF) and Miller (chairman of the board USATF).
So why ISN'T Llewwlyn Starks in jail?

Cap will get away with almost anything then. Amazing.
most of you guys including malmo are a bunch of pu$$ies
"I'm gonna kill you" can be interpreted a number of ways and that by itself does not rise to terroristic threat. In most cases, it would be interpreted idiomatically unless accompanied by a direct threat, i.e. "I'm going to kill you with a knife" or "I will shoot you with a gun." So while this might be harassment, it is not likely to result in serious charges. Caprioti could easily say he meant that "I am going to kill you" in business since these guys are competitors in some sense.
It speaks to a lack of judgement or class, but its not a reason to fry the guy. You NOP haters are just looking for a reason to bring the guy down like it will lead to systemic change - not a chance. There's someone waiting to step into this guys shoes whose just as bad or worse.
As misguided as he can be, out best chance to get change is to support Symmonds.

Why dont we ever see this as saucony or new balance vs nike. Once again brooks getting press here for the 2nd week, guess we know how they spend money on marketing these days aka DRAMA. Also would love to hear Caps story here because only hearing Mackeys is one sided.
Have you ever thought it's because a saucony coach didn't nearly come to blows with another saucony coach at USAs in the last two years. And a saucony executive didn't threaten to kill anyone either.
We don't hear about it because it doesn't happen with the other companies. Yes, Nike is the biggest sponsor in the game so they are more likely to be heard from - i'm aware of it.
^ Rojo, this is a Nike Troll. Don't bite.

Underlined above.
a good argument, both sides make valid points.
point here.
this is corporate culture. i went into running because i could get away from goofy characters in other sports and do my own thing. this case is good for non-world wise letsrun fans to learn what people will do, what they do, in corporations, which is to be a member of a clique, back stab, hire inferiors under you to protect your position,
This is what you have when there is lack of transparency, accountability, talent, etc. Actually, at Nike, Al-Sal does have talent,.. which is an exception to the rule.
.
I mean, is this Capriotti dude big? or a bad ass? Why doesn't someone just clock him and teach his ginny-as$ a lesson?
This happened on the warm up track. WHY IS ANYONE OTHER THAN ATHLETES AND COACHES ALLOWED IN THIS AREA?

Because he is John Capriotti? One of the higher executives with Nike that influences whether USATF gets more funding or not? Pretty sure the 16yr old volunteer girl at the gate isn't going to say no to him.
Doesn't make sense to me.

No one heard the alleged threat. Mackey was so afraid of Cap, he didn't file a report until a month later. Coicidently about the time his runner was going to provoke the USATF.
Mackey was so afraid he further motioned for him to come over at the Flo meet.
Cap sounds like an out of control hothead, but this is nothing more than that.
Sort of like Alberto? and Starks? and.... and....
Don't mind me, i'm just trollin'.
Of course it can be interpreted multiple ways. He's still an awful person and should still be fired. F*ck that guy. Seriously why would you stand up for him.
Steve Miller was Cap's high school coach, so they go way back.

Yup. As well known as the connection is between Cap and Miller, I'm surprised it never got mentioned when Miller became the board chairman at USATF.

That's why Cap has gotten away with nearly anything for decades.
Yes. All he needs is a time-out and a big hug.

This story from 2007 -
http://archive.indystar.com/article/20070622/COLUMNISTS01/706220497/Gatlin-story-hard-believe- gives a good summary [although it conflicts somewhat with other accounts I've read.]
If something like this happened today, the video would be everywhere, but I don't believe the security video of the incident has ever been made public. [If I'm wrong about that, hope someone will post a link.]
