Tried a Honeycrisp apple for the first time several years ago, and now there is no other apple that even merits discussion. Compared to Honeycrisp apples - even the hot house ones you get in the off season - all other apples taste like cardboard. So now I eat Honeycrisp or nothing. You all would be wise to do the same.
Yeah this isn't even up for debate. The honeycrisp is the by faarrrr the best apple there is. If you haven't tried one, get out of your chair, leave your moms basement, jog to the grocery you little hobby jogger you, grab 3 honeycrisps, eat one while you are in line, pay for 2 honeycrisps, walk run home because you suck at running and eat the 2nd honeycrisp while walking, then put the third honeycrisp on the mantle to commemorate the best day of your life.

Granny Smith is correct but never put apples in the fridge
There is absolutely nothing wrong with putting apples in the fridge. How do you think farms keep their apples fresh? Answer: They refrigerate them.

If you have been able to sample one, you would know what I am talking about.
Out of hand there are any number of very good ones from A to Z Ambrosia to Zestar but if I had only one apple in my life for pies, sauce, juice, baking and out of hand I'd take Honey Crisp
Fiona. ;)

For reals? I always refrigerate my apples. What harm does it do?

There is absolutely no harm in refrigerating apples. In fact, it will make them last longer before they begin to rot. Do it.

The only merit I see in honeycrisp is it's crispy. It's not even sweet enough to consume as fruit. It's so over rated. If I want a crisp fruit (that is sweet) then I'd rather have an Asian pear.
plus, honeycrisp is so easily bruised.
Royal Gala. I picked apples in New Zealand for a season during my itinerant post-college years. Lived in a trailer and ate Royal Gala apples in what I would now deem unhealthy quantities. But damn did they taste good.
Honeycrisp. also Ambrosia is very good and crisp.
