So Rupp is about 15 seconds behind his "teammate" (Farah) and biggest competitor at the mile distance, and 10 seconds behind his own PR. Other than that, nothing but good news for the Salazar Cyborg Science Project.

Rupp did the best he could with WADA and USADA breathing down his neck. He's done. Put another needle, I mean fork, in him.
So the most tested dude in the world is now worried that he's going to be tested? I don't know if he's doping or now - seems likely - but you're post is idiotic.
I take this as more evidence Rupp no longer has good top end speed. In and of itself, the time and the finish isn't that big of deal. But if its true that he basically ran 60 second laps the whole way, that strikes me as disappointing. I mean if the whole point of the race was to practice his kick in competition before Worlds, he should be able to show something faster than that.
As I have said before, I'm not drawing grand conclusions. But I'm now starting to take the "Rupp should move up to marathon" posts seriously. I still disagree with it. But I take the sentiment seriously.
" but you're post is idiotic."
- Irony is beautiful. Very classic letsrun.
Athlete has bad race. Yawn.
*5x1600m
Slow and tactical. Track very slow and antiquated. Rupp gets beat by some pretty talented 3:53 to 3:55 mile types in a sit and kick. I don't think that's all that unpredictable.
Can someone explain to me how this is considered a mile if they didn't start 9 meters back from the start line?
If it's the 440 yard argument, then why were the other full lap events (i.e. 400/800) starting and ending at the same point?
The 400 and 800 races were staggered to make them 400 and 800. Since it is a 440 yard track, they started and ended the mile at the same spot. The milers had a waterfall start, not a staggered start.

5xmile in 4:21, 4:20, 4:20, 4:16, 4:01 after his 8:07 2 mile record
Outdoor tracks don't bounce, except one or two of them.
I am a Rupp fan, and I am not concerned. I did not expect him to show up in his first race in over a month and drop a sub-3:55 FTW. The Mile is not his event. If he was entered in the 1500m at the WC, I would be worried, but he is looking at a 10,000/5000m double.
Remember, Rupp is not Farah. Rupp has mediocre races in his build-ups. Always has. Why doesn't anyone mention that he beat Torrence? Because Torrence is irrelevant?
NIck Symmonds placed dead last in the 400m. Are Symmonds's fans sticking a fork in him? The 400m is half the distance of the 800m, while the Mile is 1/3 of the 5000m and 1/6th the 10,000m. I would be worried if I was fan of Nick Symmonds.

Huh? He's training for the Worlds 10K.
Rupp is not a miler -- did anyone expect him to win in an unimportant race? He still ran 4:00 for a mile -- not a bad workout. His loss wasn't like Leo Manzano's off days.
The only cause for concern is the lack of a finishing kick might hurt him.
Who has ever heard of a track season with an early August "rust buster"?
He has had the strangest race schedule that I ever seen in my life.
His season is unusual to say the least. But maybe they're trying a different approach to the Championships this time around.
""It was special," Rupp said. "Obviously I still have a little way to go as far as sharpening up. But this was good for me, to drop down and run against some guys with good kicks."
Former Texas A&M star Deon Lendore won the men's 400 in 45.77, pulling away from three-time Olympian Jeremy Wariner.
Wariner was second in 46.03, and UO school record-holder Mike Berry finished third in 46.10.
Nick Symmonds, a two-time Olympian in the 800, was in the race, and clearly out of his element of his element. He finished last."

Seems like he was okay with it. Like sb said, for the 5k, this doesn't predict a blazing finish. But for the 10k, it doesn't mean so much.
Was he wearing trainers?
A) Saladczar is gaming it all and had Rupp run 4:00 just to get letsrun trolls all atwitter.
B) Rupp is tired (from recent workouts) and rusty (from not racing in 6 weeks) or actually took some downtime (from an injury).
C) He's off the sauce and we'll see a 28:20/17th place in Bejing.

Unregistered spam chicken shit who knows Rupp is a turtle on any solid track
Whenever Chump Wigins is owned he just digs in and repeats the same idiocy over and over again. It's the clearest sign of madness. He'll ramble about bouncy tracks, magnesium and anonymous posters on his deathbed.
There's no way anyone here can treat him. He needs a psychiatrist.
