Some of you on here are ridiculous; the obsession and conspiracies about drugs is ridiculous. A lot of the people who seem to never post without yelling "so-and-so is on drugs", or "this performance is because of drugs", are only trolling .... I hope, but for some of you that are serious ...
Yes, Semenya will of course get an advantage once she is off and fully recovered from hormone therapy or whatever it was to reduce testosterone levels.
But do you really think that only 1 week of being off treatments she had been having for years, would suddenly result in her running 4 sec faster this year than before?
Same with Bolt ... all the people yapping about his trip to the German doctor and clearly he is on something to run the two 9.87s.
He went to that doctor, what? 2 or 3 weeks before the London DL? I'm no expert on PEDs, but I don't think they will take you from 10.0x shape (as everyone claims Bolt was in) to 9.87 (slowing, into a headwind) in only 3 weeks or less time.
Does anyone seriously think it works that way?
For Bolt, it couldn't possibly be his injury wasn't too severe, he got treatment and had been doing serious, hard training from his previous race (NYC in early June) and is now finally returning to good form, after a slow start to the year and some injuries, and essentially an entire year off last year.
He ran about 10.02 basic (if I remember) all the way back in April. Yes, he 200s sucked, by his standards, but running 20.0x equivalent would put him close to 9.9 shape I'd guess. The 9.87 wasn't that far out there.
A bit off topic with Bolt, sorry.
Semenya ran 2:02.66 last year. 1.94 seconds improved this year isn't crazy (as well as 1:58.9 in 2013 ... not like she has been plodding 2:04+ for years now).
When/if she gets back to 1:55 a discussion of the new rules effects will be warranted.
