Regardless of what you want to say he is one of the most selling music artists of any genre of all time. As well fought a drug addiction and of all things found RUNNING to be his outlet. That is pretty cool.
Of course he is talented and good for him for taking up running.
On a separate note, it's totally acceptable to call someone out who exaggerated the truth trying to tell a better story.
It would be interesting if a famous celebrity were able to put in world class weekly mileage... but EXTREMELY unlikely. End of story. Are we done here? Can we move on to more doping accusations somewhere?
There is a huge difference between:
a) running 17 miles a day, sustaining it, and benefitting from it versus
b) running 17 miles a day and breaking down before too long from an overuse injury.
"b)" is not all that hard to do, or imagine. It is funny that you can't even accept that it is possible, let alone likely.
I know a guy (3:30 marathoner) who typically ran 40-50 mpw who came back from injury and a long layoff 4 weeks before Boston. I asked him how his running was going and was shocked when he told me he'd run 120+ mpw the last 2 weeks. He wasn't joking, and others in our group confirmed it was true. Not long after that he was injured again. But he did run 120+ mpw for "a while".
It's possible. Likely. And stupid.
