Vernon is right. He should have been there.
He has standard at both 5000m and 10000m. He most likely would have finished between 10th and 15th at 10000m.
Let's look at GBR results up to now (men only and excluding Mo)
100m 13, 20 and 25th
800m 34 and 41 (far from the semi)
400H 17 and DNS
PV 29
Hammer 11 and 15
20k walk 24th
The top 8 goal is BS. No way that any GBR men other than Mo and Rutherford will be top 8.
I agree that these other GBR athletes who achieved standard should be there, but I don't agree that Vernon should not be there.
No GBR athlete within a sniffing distance of top 8 until now. Nobody other that Rutherford (excluding Mo here) has a shot. Very possible that Vernon would have scored the best GBR result until now. We will have to see how Rutherford does, but it's possible that Vernon would have had the best GBR men finish (other than Mo) even after this championship is over.
