It is telling them to get a real job and start contributing to society.
National Class Running is not going to "cut it." That message should be read loud and clear in GB.
Kudos to the GB Selection Board.

Look at it from UKA point of view and it's easy to see why he wasn't selected. They want athletes capable of a top 8 finish. Maybe their selection policy is bullshit but it is what is. Harsh but fair.
He would still have been selected if he ran the QT twice. He did it once and there were virtually no opportunities to run a fast 10,000m. How many diamond leagues have a 10,000.
The other criteria he could have been selected on is showing form at them moment. He has proved they were wrong about his current form. He only had one bad race a 5000m and has now proved he in on form.
No other country has a stupid policy of having to run a time twice. Does someone have to run a pr twice for it to count! It was done this year he's proved his shape he should go

Agree with this. His Twitter controversies bring more publicity to the sport than his running does. If UK Athletics want to maximize public interest then it is best to get him really mad and leave him at home to vent his anger on Twitter
Is this a revenge UKA?

It wasn't just 13:20.
At 600m to go - Ibrahimov was leading by about 50m. Andy kicked it so hard to close the gap at the final 50m.
never seen a finishing kick like that one.
a real fighter.
This is what makes the UK great.
They want quality over quantity. The younger athletes will know they have to train hard and dedicate their lives to the sport (as africans and mo farah do) to earn the opportunity to represent GB at major champs. It's the athletes choice. Unless you're superhuman like Usain Bolt then you can't lead a normal life and perform at a world class level. Unfortunately it takes great sacrifice. If you're a non-african distance runner then you're already at a major disadvantage so get rid of Twitter and your home comforts, buy some ugali, live like a complete hermit and give 110% to your running. If you come up short then it will be because the talent just wasn't there in the first place. If you're a talented lad like Vernon then you'll shine.
Rashid Ramzi!
He better not do a Gatlin in time for the Olympics.

Oh well...
Levins ran 27:07 for 10k 2 months ago, your post is ignorant at best if you think Levins 13:20 is relevant.
Andy Vernon needs and deserves the chance to mix it with the best in championship races so he can get the good times. He isn't a Kenyan or Ethiopian, he doesn't live in the States with his coach, he has done the best with the opportunities he has available to him. I think if he had had a little more confidence, he would have beaten Mo Farah in the 5000m at the Europeans last year. Crazy decision to leave him (and European 400m Champion Martyn Rooney, who has run the qualifying mark twice) behind. But Chris O' Hare and the proverbial also-ran Michael Rimmer instead. And am I right in saying that Jenny Meadows is also going in the women's 800m? Who ran her qualifying times early and indoors and who now appears to have peaked too early and whose recent form has been deeply disappointing.
The UK basing its distance running status on one athlete is not only boring, its having a negative effect on British male distance running.
Not only is a lot harder to run the distance event qualifying times twice than in the sprints, some of the sprint standards are lower in comparison.

It's a statement of fact.

Being a fact doesn't change that it is a dumb and Ignorant statement.

Other facts:
Vernon's 5000m PB (13:11) is better than Levin's (13:15)
Vernon's 5000m SB and PB (13:20/13:11) are better than Mo Ahmed's (13:20/13:18)...
Also, for the person who said that Vernon should go to WC for the sake of the next 5 Venons. Vernon is 7th (all time) at 5000m in the UK and 12th (all time) at 10,000 in the UK.
I agree, but remember that even if they don't do this bone head move, it could take the UK over 50 years to find 5 Vernons...

Yes, he did.
..and your point is?
His point is Andy does not deserve a ticket to China in 3 weeks time
The UK's had no success doing that this cycle. How many are going to want to even try if they have to be PREDICTED for the top 8 before they have even run a major championship? Ridiculous. Vernon's clearly running more than well enough to merit selection. Beating Ibrahimov is a good one and until UK athletes get to take any drugs they want without any threat of blood testing, like the Kenyans, North Africans, and probably Ethiopians (=8-10 entries in every distance race, at least), you cannot say that it is a level playing field.
