It seems like it has quieted down on the NOP doping front. Anything new in the works from USADA?

These things take time, Bill. Patience was never one of your virtues.
I'm sure the cash transfers are a-flowin', and within a few months we'll get a terse statement saying there is "no evidence of wrongdoing." I bring this up in every NOP thread....USADA has had ALL of the dirt from Magness, Goucher, et al., since 2012....AND NOTHING HAPPENED! What makes you think anything new is gonna happen this time around?
He probably couldn't break 4:30 now if his life depended on it.

This
Agreed. But I am wondering what to expect as far as a timeline on this investigation. A year? two months? two weeks? Anyone know?

When the BBC story first broke, I felt sure that this was the end for NOP. Now, I'm less sure. The fact that Rupp is not racing right now, though, is significant and means one of two extreme things
1. It's all about to come crashing down. NOP Salazar and Rupp have been too busy figuring a way out of the tightening noose, or, they're already caught and the lawyers are working out the details of their surrender. There's no point in running fast times in Europe when you're about to be banned for life and have all of your accomplishments stripped.
2. USADA doesn't have the muscle that Nike and Phil Knight does. Rupp is home doping it up so he can win in Bejing. For people like Salazar, winning a race is the same as being proved morally right. This will also punctuate the fact that NOP is immune to any rule. Rupp's gold will be proof that Salazar was right all along.
We'll know in the next few weeks, I think, but I'm now afraid it's number 2. Lance only got nailed because he was sponsored by the postal service. Otherwise, people who could punch at his weight would never have cared. Nike is a private company. It's employees don't have to worry about being moral.
Its...
If #2 is true then expect the gray-zone rule flaunting by "everyone" to lead to unbelievable running times in the next few years.
Sub 3:30 1500m becomes the norm.
Sub 12:45 5k becomes norm.
Sub 16:30 10k becomes norm.
The best gray-zoners will run sub 50 closing laps, and sub 1:50 closing 800m.
* Sub 26:30 10k becomes norm.
Lol... Those are the only options? Can't possibly be anything else? No biases here...
You probably should have included a third option: The NOP didn't do s%#t and USADA is figuring this out right about now and kicking themselves for wasting limited resources.
or maybe Rupo is home training like the other guys who made the team in 5 and 10. True said he just ran one 5000 to get a standard.
I'll take door #3 wrote:

Ummm, this is not an option, Eric L.---aka A Duckk. It is only a fanboy's dream.
Reality is that #3 is the likely scenario. But, let's not confuse facts with the knee-jerk conspiracy theory folks here on LR.

Looks like all of you missed this:
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/mo-farah-quizzed-five-hours-6139686Armstong had a lot more muscle than USADA, yet Tygart didn't hesitate to go after Lance. This idea that USADA would back off because of Nike seems absurd.

"The governing body also said that, because of a subsequent launch of a formal investigation by US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) and UK Anti-Doping (UKAD), the findings from their review would be shared with UKAD "prior to any wider circulation". "

It's important to remember that USADA and every other NADO have no authority to open cases. They collect evidence for the sports federation. The sports federation has ALL the authority to issue sanctions.
There are not going to be sanctions for two reasons.
1. USATF and IAAF are okay with doping. Just bring the sponsorship dollars and viewers.
2. Nike/Salazar read like they were mostly doping within the rules. The rules permit a wide range of doping. Even then, doping your child with Testosterone isn't a sporting offense.
