If you a referring to Rudisha or anyone else, they weren't at the top of their games that season. It is totally different. It isn't like Rudisha ran the 1,500 and skipped the 800. He set the WR the year prior and was nowhere near that the next year. Staying healthy is part of the sport and Nick Symmonds was the second best 800m runner in 2013, hands down. He was 2nd at Worlds, ran the 2nd fastest time in the world that year and had 5 of the top 12 times run that year.
