I haven't really heard of high school distance runners doping because drugs don't have a huge impact on running,
Why kind of PEDs would HS distance runners try to get? Roids built bulk and unnecessary weight gain and the side-effect profile for teenagers is catastrophic. And roids are a controlled substance, therefore the DEA would definitely get involved with any investigation of a teenager suspected of using roids. There's HGH and it's very expensive with major side-effects and it's also a scheduled drug. That leaves EPO which has to be injected and carries a high side-effect profile for cardiovasculac complications. I think the HS runners are clean - too many health risks and no teen wants to get arrested for using a controlled substance and consequently get kicked off the team.
