I thought Kipchirchir was our best shot but he looked horrible. Corey Leslie got blasted in the steeple. Kellyn Johnson couldn't quite hang on. Lindsey Flanagan ran admirably for the Bronze in the marathon. Still looking for Gold.

Not if she is leading at the 400. No way she wins in a wire to wire race. If she runs like she did at USATF'S then I agree.

Idiot. The leader at the bell wins more champs 800's than any other position.
Especially recently: all but 1 of the 5 oly/WC men's final since 2008 has been won by the leader at the bell. The exception was Symmonds who only got silver. Symmonds who NEVER leads at the bell, and never medalled either, except that one time.
As a group, the other 7 runners might have a better chance. But you don't get to be all 7 of them. No particular individual has a better chance than the leader. That includes whoever's on their shoulder, running wide and getting no draft at all. And whoever's behind them on the rail, boxed in.
Merber and Wheating in 1500m
800?????????????
Ashley Higginson has a good shot at gold in the women's steeple.
Absolutely there is. Do you think there is no chance Heath can win a 5000 meter race just because Levins is in it? Cam Levins???????? Get over yourself man. NOP fanboy...you got a little something on your chin man.
The leader at 400 finished 4th tonight. Still no American Gols in the distances.
Men's 800 is a good bet. Clayton Murphy and Ryan Martin.

Have you ever heard of Brannen and CPT?
No Gold from USA but plenty of excuses. I promise that USA will start crying about not sending their best.

I will personally guarantee a gold medal from Murphy. Kid is unstoppable right now, and Rafith Rodriguez hasn't been up to form in a while. Just you watch and see
Desi for the win in the 10k. You heard it here first.

Wheating for the win over the two Canadians
Merber finishes up the track and never seemed to be engaged in the medal hunt. Obscure races at little known events he wins- the big stage seems to turn him into a guy who wants to finish a solid sixth. Wheating is another odd duck too 3:52&3;31 PRs and not much to show for six + years.
