If Kiprop is running well I can't imagine that he'll lose WC. He's obviously better than 70%

El G said years ago that Kiprop would break his record. The man is a much faster 800m runner than El G, Kiprop ran a 1:43 low 800m 5 years ago; he's also a pretty decent XC runner as well. Kiprop has spent the last couple of years running tactical races and this is one of the few times where he has run for time and perhaps the only race where he took upon himself to run fast.

Actually, the last three years at Monaco, Kiprop has "took it upon himself to run fast." In two of those races he has PRd and in all three races he has pulled multiple people to PRs, including Kiplagat, who passed him in the last 100m in one of the races.

I would say that Kiprop is the only 1500m runner who has took it upon himself to run fast. While his efforts are most certainly inconsistent and can be puzzling, he's gone for it at least once a season for the past three years.

Well the only guy to come close to El G had to have the Monaco mondo track and EPO. But El G was clean, obviously.
Incredible to think that Coe, Cram, and Ovett would almost certainly have ran at least low 3:28 even back in the 80s with a bit more luck or better pacing, and even if they were full of drugs, they didn't have the stuff that every sub 3:29 runner has obviously been taking since the 90s. That makes them the GOATS. And yes, they probably would run sub 3:24 at Monaco today, with EPOd African competition, and taking EPO themselves.
