YES YES YES!
That length though. Solid article. $10,000? I thought you guys were confident, lets up the antie a bit here! Mike Rossi is a fraud & liar (until proven otherwise) and should be barred from all racing ever
Reopen the cheater mike rossi thread
Last picture was very good
I thoroughly enjoyed this and thought that it laid out a pretty compelling case, but goodness gracious, how many man hours were just dedicated to proving a a guy didn't run a 3:11 marathon? This is liking using an entire work week to prove that a guy wasn't a benchwarmer for his varsity basketball team in high school.
I still don't understand why Rojo didn't publish this 6 weeks ago. He says in the article that it has been written for a long time, but implies that they decided not to publish it after Lehigh chose not to DQ him. Not sure why that matters. Maybe I missed something?
I read the whole thing.. super interesting. nice job.
my only concern is the offer of $10k for breaking 20 in the 5k. I've run lots of races in the same neighborhood as Rossi's times (1:40 hm, 21xx 5ks), and if $10k was on the line, I'm pretty sure I could train specifically to break 20 in the 5k. The others would be more difficult. But I'm also very lazy with training and more naturally speedy (5:14 mile), which Rossi may not be, so I could be wrong.

Rossi rubbed off on them.
They started the effort... then nothing... and BOOM! ... crossed the finish line out of nowhere.
It was a good read... LVM do something
If I were Mike, I would drop 20lbs, actually train right, and go race a 5k in 19:59. That would be an easy $10k to pick up and a smack in the brojos faces.
Seriously, he looks like he is 180 - 185 which may be one of the biggest things holding him back. Breaking 20 should not be impossible for him.

Do you really think the Brojos would pay?

Agreed. I think the brojos might've made a mistake by offering $10K for a sub20. If you're at 22 min 5K distance, it shouldn't be an extraordinary effort to get yourself to sub20 in 5 months. I don't know if MR will do it, but still.

I agree. But maybe it would still be difficult-
is it about one pound per second per mile? So if you lose 20 lbs, that takes about a minute off a 5K time - and that turns 21:52 into 20:52. That's still about 4 sec per 400m too slow.
I suppose he won't be able to do it- but sub 20 for $10K just seems too good to resist.
How can I get that same kind of offer?

I would really hope so since they seem to enjoy stirring up a mob for every liar and cheater out there. Otherwise, "Pot, please meet Kettle."

They didn't specify, but I suppose he could find a net downhill course. The last few seconds per mile would still have to be on luck and training though. I do think it would be very hard for him, but not entirely impossible. Although, I'm sure his personality would do well on exactly this kind of retrobution.
For you to cash in on this... if you are in the Philly area, you could always contact Rossi with a training schedule and be a psuedo coach for 10% of the winnings I suppose.

Yeah, but if he is saying he really ran a 3:11, just going out and running the 5k is pretty lame, that would seem like more proof he didn't run the marathon - or why wouldn't he just go do a 3:25 marathon? With his supposed 3:11 ability, a 3:25 should be pretty easy.
They would have to pay him. This is essentially contractual. If he meets his end of the deal, they have to pay him (very much like a hole-in-one contest or half court basketball shot). It would be an open and shut lawsuit otherwise.
I would not have offered the money for any distance under ten miles, but it ain't my money, so game on!
One thing is for sure, if Rossi is going to break 20:00, he's going to have to wear less clothes during the race. The thermometer hits 45, and this guy dresses for The Iditarod.
Invest in BAA singlets, Mike. BAA singlets!!! And for the love of God, no more tights please.
Thank you, Rojo, for belatedly publishing your article. Mike Rossi is a dirtball and a cheater, and the 10000+ thread has plenty of proof. For those of you new to the subject, the mention of Rossi's taunts of Tony Rigdon in Rojo's article are just the tip of the iceberg of Mike Rossi's disgusting, sliminess and immaturity.
For follow up, I suggest:
publish the IP addresses of the posts that support Rossi, or put down his critics. I'll bet you they all come from one house in Rydale, PA.
A criticism of Barb McKeever and Lisa Walkiewicz is also due. These two gave Mike Rossi a pass on his cheating, and they should feel as much heat as him.
Please also put the Rossi thread back on the board, and not semi-hidden with that strange "N/T" thing, so more people can learn about what a jerk Mike Rossi is.
