I've posted quite a bit on this topic. Just a few initial comments:
1. This *is* disappointing. But, it could be that USADA is in a delicate phase of the investigation and they've asked everyone to stay quiet for the time being. Sometimes you have to step back from a particular battle if you want to win the war.
2. Failing that, it might be that the evidence that KG has is not only damning to NOP but to her and Adam as well. If NOP was dirty, then so was she
3. Depending on what drugs the Gouchers were on, it might have been necessary go off them in order for Kara to get pregnant. It's also probably ill-advised to take some things when nursing. Taking drugs is also probably a requirement to stay in NOP. Hence, Kara was let go
4. Regardless of what Kara knows, says or does, she's one of perhaps 20 people who came to USADA the BBC or Pro Publica about Salazar and NOP. The cloud over NOP wasn't put there by Kara alone.
5. AW was a pharmacy experiment. Salazar was at the center of that. When I was in Eugene, the fact that Salazar was a doper was practically axiomatic. He's always believed in better living through chemistry. NOP is dirty.
6. Many many former NOPers have been curiously quiet about this. They're still quiet. If I were a true (rather than paid) defender of NOP, I'd have to wonder why. There is no advantage to Ritz or Webb saying nothing about this. It's only hurting their reputations. Their silence is not a omen for NOP.
7. In spite of all of the above, NOP may walk. Salazar is protected by one of the most powerful companies in the world, one who has a long history of supporting drug cheats in this and in many other sports - and probably more than supporting them. If USADA can't get hard evidence, and, given the regimen NOP seems to be following and the resources at their disposal, they probably won't, this whole thing is likely to go away.
8. If it does, then it doesn't mean that NOP is clean.
I don't think this is over. If USADA comes up with nothing, then Kara et al will have to respond, I think. We'll see.
