As long as it doesn't cost me anything to build the base, I'm cool with it. Free basing should be the norm for the sport.

Stay away from that free basing.

Good training for a distance runner focuses on the development of anaerobic threshold. Everything else is supplementary.
Assuming you mean the aerobic threshold, ie tempo running, ie 85% max heart rate running, this is the cornerstone of effective base building.

People are also not mountains. Thus, there is no need to "peak".
Wow, never thought about it this way.
Note that people are also not railroads. Thus, there is no need to "train".
Skin color doesn't matter and we are all human. Thus, there is no need to race.
People are not cell phones, so there is no need to Sprint.

I got a good laugh out of that too.

A better analogy is that runners are not baseball players, and thus do not need to do "base running". Har. Hardy har har.
Don't say 'anyways'. It makes you sound like an idiot.
What's the problem? LRC is a nest for idiots.

All your base are belong to us
I am a huge troll.
Thank You!! You could not have said this any better. This is for all you LRC idiots out there coming out with illogical theories for training.

Classic letsrun thread, just so stupid.
People are not racket sports. Thus, there is no need for "doubles."
house is to foundation as
base is to ?????
Runners are not cyclists but they do need balance, as in balanced schedules.
Even Lydiard would forego a base period if the upcoming season was about to begin and you had to race early in that season.
Base period for xc runners in July or intervals? Don't be stupid, do the base work. Intervals, tempo, speed, etc will be necessary in Sept etc.
..
People are not power tools. Thus, there is no need for 'drills' in training.
Keep doing that and see how much you improve.

People are not apples. Thus, there is no need for "core" in training.

(most) people are not swine, therefore there is not need to work on your hammies.
People are not time or space, so there's no need for intervals.

Buy a dictionary.
Look up the word "metaphor."
You're welcome.
