Whoever wins the 1500 in Beijing will have a hollow victory if Dibaba is not in the race.
Finally building on her indoor season from last year. Still surprising to see what is essentially the new WR.
fastest time in about 17 years solo with 18 seconds to 2nd place.
wow. that's all i'm going to write.
great points

Of course - don't you know the rules? If Jenny or Rowbury run 3.54, then all is right with the world. All non- Americans are dopers, understand?
If Matt Hughes makes a big breakthrough to run 8.00, then definitely because of doping, but not Jager.
How can it be made any simpler? This is the reality of the world - africans are dopers and age-cheaters, NO exceptions to that rule. That started with Bikila and Keino and continues to this day.

The world record is 3:50

Wait- that is the evidence (see the thread on Why is everyone so bitter).
The guy made a baseless, spineless accusation because a petite, good looking young woman is faster than he'll ever be.
No evidence- she is clean and thank you, dfdfdffgdgdgfdgfdg, for questioning that idiot.

i think canadians are close enough to avoid suspicion. mexicans though...
Donald Trump said all Mexicans use PEDS and he went up in the Republican polls.
Wonder why people would be skeptical of her ability yet the other day, en route to running 14'15" in the 5000m, she closed with a 61" last lap. Remember, to be able to do that, while almost destroying the WR, she surely can handle a 60 seconds pace for four laps. That is a 3'45" for 1500m! But I was thinking at least she can run 3'49". But while thinking, I knew that she had mentioned that she was focusing on 5000m for the 2015 world championships. So I was of the opinion that she probably waiting to do 1500m after Worlds since it might require a slight change in training from what she is currently doing. Then boom! She runs it, and manages 3'54"! I would say that is a little below bar for her. She could have run at least 3 seconds quicker if she did it two weeks after the 5000m.

Wasn't she training with Mak-Daddy, Driouch and Co.?
3:54 has been run 8 times while sub 4:04 has been run well over 1000x its not unfair to raise an eyebrow at 3:54 vs 4:03.
Also note most of the sub 3:56 crew are Chinese 1993/97 era folks.
All the same, this is not out of line with her recent very impressive work so hopefully she is clean.

You're an idiot! History, associations, and demeanor of the athletes and coaches are mostly what people use to make their opinions. Plenty of Americans are accused on these boards as being cheats and yes even white Americans. Think how long and hated Lance was.
That projected marathon time of 2:20 makes you wonder how much doping Radcliff was doing to drop a 2:15??? Might be OK...since she is white ya know;)

An agent told me once eh thinks it's because the Ethiopians have little no mid-d history. The coaches laregly over do the speed and burn them out was his theory.
On JK's conversion chart, a 14:19 is equal to a 4:08 mile which would be a sub-3:50 1500.
http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=1739614Her 5000m last week was worth at least 14:06 with better pacing.
Using 14:06 with 3:54 gives,
400 0:57.25
800 1:59.39
1000 2:31.63
1500 3:54.0
1-mile 4:12.23
3000 8:10.68
2-mile 8:48.81
5000 14:06.0
10000 29:29.48
half-mara 65:11.90
marathon 2:16:00.68
Using 14:06 with your sub-3:50 (I used 3:49) gives,
400 0:54.49
800 1:55.36
1000 2:27.19
1500 3:49.0
1-mile 4:07.17
3000 8:06.40
2-mile 8:44.86
5000 14:06.0
10000 29:49.08
half-mara 66:38.42
marathon 2:20:18.89

Dibaba just ran 3:54.11 in Barcelona for 1500 per Alberto Stretti on twitter. An insanely quick time especially right after her 5k WR attempt. Any idea what event she will run at worlds?

If you eliminate the highly suspicious Chinese times, the last time anyone ran that fast was Paula Ivan in 1988, 3:53.96.

"Plenty"? Really? Name them.
The sad truth is that most people want to think there are only a few people cheating. Look at the last month. The focus has been pretty much exclusively on two people: Rupp & Salazar. There's some chatter about Farah and Levins, but otherwise, nobody has come under sustained scrutiny.
This at the same time there's a report on French TV claiming to show how to beat the biological passport with micro-dosing. The WADA response to that report was classic: Shame on them for using athletes as guinea pigs!
Where's the clamor for changing the protocols to test directly or exogenous testosterone? Or for random drug checks in the middle of the night, before the micro-dose can disappear? I must have missed it.
I'm a big Dibaba fan, but even I have to admit that when the only people who've run as fast as her are suspected/proved drug cheats, it's hard not to wonder.
Hell, based on the WADA survey from 2011 (the one that WADA suppressed), it's hard not to wonder about lots of people. That survey had between 1/3 and 1/2 of athletes saying that they had doped in the previous year. WADA's tests, on the other hand, say only 2% of athletes are doping.
