clearing it up for you wrote:The bias is against those for whom there is evidence suggesting nefarious methods at work. Rupp falls under that umbrella. Jager does not.
You mean the evidence that has been out the last month or two? The bias that has been here for years? There is no way a clean jäger beats a supposedly doped up Rupp.
Actually in the hypothetical (doped up Rupp) versus clean Jager, yes actually it is not so unbelievable Jager beats out Rupp.
Jager started out high school as a sprinter, took longer to get into distance running. Quickly was a 4:05 type and subsequently a worlds qualifier at a very young age.
Rupp started out UNDER SALAZAR. Based on soccer practice. Obviously he had to be a huge talent to be noticed by Salazar but the difference, even if you don't believe Rupp was doping is that he was immediately coached by Salazar, received such things as underwater treadmill, altitude tent etc.
The difference is that Jager is clearly a more RAW talent. Rupp is super talented. Even in the context that Rupp does EPO (which is not true) he would have to be super talented to run 26:44. But Jager didn't have those obvious advantages as a youngster.
Your comparative of the two against each other relies on portraying them as equal talents, which to my logic is not true. Had Jager been discovered by Salazar first, he would be running even better with the help of his thyroid problem, athsma, and low testosterone all being fixed with pharmaceuticals. Plus the young age altitude tent.
Jager is the greater (raw) talent.
