I third this.
She is so so good. Hopefully she continues to improve as she has accomplished some tremendous stuff.
Oh she also has a 4:25 1500 PR. Insane range!!!
She may be a state champion in cross country next year. Who knows?

Taylor Roe.
Fourteen years old from Mukilteo, WA. Ran 4:27.84 for 1500m at Club Northwest all-comers track meet in Seattle in June. That time was faster than the listed girsl 13-14 age group record held by Jordan Hasay but since it was run in a mixed gender race is was not eligible for record.
Finished 7th at this years USATF Junior champs against girls up to 19 years of age. Worth keeping an eye on. Will be a frosh in the fall.
easy. Kamryn Mcintosh.
Saw her split 2:03 low in the 4x8 after racing the four at NY Section 1 Class A champs. Ran a 2:05 (?) open at states.
She's a sophomore.
You've nailed it, Track Coach. This girl is a phenom, running these times as a soph (and last year as a frosh)... 400 and 400IH. Her brother's not bad either. Good genes, great performers.
Candace Hill's time (at 16) would be the World Junior WR except for two drugged-up East Germans. She has the #6 US SENIOR time in the 100m, and given how much faster the Eugene track is than the one she ran on, it's quite conceivable that she could have made the US team for Beijing (Todd 10.92).
Her 10.98 was a surprise even to herself, but if she can build on that, she can go to Rio next year. The only other HS girl that might be able to make that statement would be Kaylin Whitney.
So everyone is disagreeing with the OP and putting down all these names, but the point is that there is no one singular "it" girl like Cain and Efraimson where in their last year of high school competition they were the only person anyone talked about. There's lots of great ones this year, but no single athlete that's head and shoulders above everyone else, across any distance.
(Except Candace Hill)
(But sprinting is a little different)
Rylee Bowen of Sonoma Academy is a D5 XC state champion, 4:43 miler, and California State record holder in the 2k steeplechase, all as a freshman! She is America's next distance girl phenom.
Unquestionably some fantastic talent listed here, but 10.98 is just another level, the greatest female HS track performance of all time (yes including Cain). And that is not even considering that she is only a soph. It doesn't hurt that she is also an honor student, and very humble and down-to-earth. Obviously some great genes, parenting and coaching going on there.

I think the everyone needs to keep watch on the runner-up at New Balance OUtdoor mile, Ariel Keklak, Lincoln-Sudbury Reg. HS junior. She dropped down to 4:49 uncontested winning the first section at New Balance by five seconds. Would have been interesting if she was in seeded section since not many girls ran PB's in Greensboro. Has clipped a 2:08 in a relay and run under 10:50 in a dual meet. Her sister just graduated from Georgetown. Living in the Northeast she gets no credit.
Loves to run, good speed, very smart.
Agree that Taylor Roe can be the "it" girl. 14 years old and a middle schooler. Now a freshman at Kamiak. 7th at usatf juniors. 4:31.31. 2 time Junior Olympic cross country champion.

I did some research. Not sure how accurate it is but what I found is that on June 17th she ran a 4:27.84 for 1500.

See page 13.
Looks like she might now have the national record for girls 13-14 year olds. Almost a second better than Jordan Hassay.
TT Roe who was good 1600/miler in high school and college in Washington is her dad.
It will be fun to watch her develop.
This was 6 years ago. Wow. The “it girl” who is a woman now. Taylor roe has a 2nd and 5th at ncaa cross country and now an indoor 3,000 meter national championship. she ran a fantastic tactical race in that 3,000. Kudos to her and congratulations on her win.
You are way, way off. No chance Sydney McLaughlin wins the gold medal in the 400H in 2020. She won't do that until 2021! :)
No way Vashi Cunningham does anything good. Definitely won't make the Olympic team or win a world indoor championship gold medal, or anything like that.
That's as likely to happen as Tara Davis finding some guy who is missing his legs and marrying him. ha ha ha. That will never happen.
How ironic. I just talked to Sammy Watson's coach and he said that she is aiming for sub 2 in 2022.
THREE people in 2015 picked Taylor Roe to be a big star. That is unusually good predicting for posters on LetsRun who are usually not that great at predicating things. Good job you three.
