Exactly. Of course biased LetsRun doesn't mention this in their story, of course.
Alberto was so concerned after the incident he called the USADA hotline. That he called the hotline shows he was legitimately scared of sabotage.
LetsRun you should add that to the story. He was scared of this scenario such that he called the USADA hotline.
Or that he is covering his bases and putting ducks in rows to hide what is real motives are.

Cause that somehow changes exactly what again? If the sabotage theory was "preposterous" when Gatlin claimed it, why would it be any less so when Galen suspected it? Oh wait. It wouldn't - you're just pulling that out of your @ss because of your credulous addiction to any and every excuse that gets Alberto off the hook, no matter how far fetched. Or preposterous.
The unavoidable reality here is that Alberto lied. He changed his story and lied so many times he can no longer keep it straight.
You people just don't understand. It was absurd and preposterous for Gatlin to be sabotaged by Whetstine because Gatlin is just a normal runner who isn't susceptible to sabotage because he doesn't have all the health issues.
But that all changed when Whetstine massaged Galen Rupp, because Galen has worked so hard to overcome so many serious health issues and ONLY Alberto is allowed to touch Galen or else he could go into an asthmatic-allergy-hypothyroid-gonadism-gluten induced shock at any moment. In fact, Whetstine may have even been trying to rub POLLEN on Galen.
So Alberto - who is the only person allowed to touch Galen - was right to suspect that Galen was being sabotaged.
It's embarrassing that anyone would use the terem 'witchunt.' A witchunt is something totally made up and that's clearly not the case here.
We didn't creat Goucher, Magness or Fleshman or the many unnamed sources. We didn't create the Telegraph and Daily Mail stories from yesterday.
We were working on our own story where we were going to point out a few things from the Gatlin trial that we found interesting. Once everyone else published, we published.
Plus we clearly state the following:
Our story provides more info than the others as we include Whestine statement to LRC and Gatlin testimony.
Letrun's article on this situation is here:
Unlike the UK article, we actually cite the source from 2006 (ESPN) and also add more information by reaing the 900+ Gatlin trial transcripts.
A few things worth noting from the Gatlin trial.
1) Gatlin never claimed he was sabotaged by Androgel. He said it was a women's DHEA product.
2) Gatlin wasn't busted for violating the T/E ratio which is what Salazaar ran his test on. Gatlin was busted for having exogenous tesosterone in his system which is a different test.
3) A guy testifying for Gatlin admitted that it would be very hard to sabotage someone after a meet as the one hour between say rubbing it in and the test wouldn't likely be enough for it to show up in the test. He admiitted it would be "improbable."
You can't help but laugh,” Salazar said of Gatlin’s sabotage claim in 2006.
“It's just preposterous on so many fronts.
“I guess anything's possible, but it just doesn't make sense. There's no way in the world.”

You're kidding right? Salazar was DEFENDING Whetstine in the ESPN article and then he's spooked by him? You're in denial. Seriously.

All this is true.
What's fatally flawed is your premise that Alberto was trying to duplicate or re-create the Gatlin situation in his own experiment.

His supporters here will most likely say something like, "That was nine years ago. Given time to consider things in greater depth, Salazar must have decided maybe it wasn't such a far-fetched idea after all, and just wanted to make sure he covered all the bases." Whatever Salazar says about this, if anything, will echo this idea.
The fact that Gatlin himself dismissed this sort of sabotage as playing a role in his own failed test won't matter.

To me, this 2006 statemeant does not add much. I think he would say that after all the BALCO stuff wrapped up, he started to get more paranoid and thought all involved in that were dirty in some way. After the guy touched Galen, he wanted to confirm that nothing like that could happen even if far fetched.
Roelants, you forgot to properly cite your sources.
There are objects in the cosmos whose light is reaching us after interstellar journeys of over 13 billion years.
There are Young Earth Creationists (Bible literalists who believe that the earth is about 6,000 to 10,000 years old) who try to account for this by proposing that God has periodically changed the speed of light or the speed at which time passes or both. Or better yet, that God stuck all of those photos out there, cleverly disguised them, and sent them zipping on their way within the past ten centuries as a test of humans' faith in Him.
The arguments now being cast about to try to paint Salazar's actions in a benign light are approaching just that level of comic absurdity.
yeah, initially until Rupp was creeped out by that massage therapist rubbing his shoulders with out asking. yuck, freaking creepy.
What is a 'witchunt'?
I'm not sure it's the only question that remains, but it's a pretty good one. You'd think that the red underlining would have revealed something,

Some words don't go through the filter, so you add a letter, in this case an 'h'.
So now we are looking at quotes nearly a decade old? All of this is a waste of time. Either there is hard core evidence or there is not. If not, the only fair thing to do is move on. He said she said will not cut it. By the way, wonder if the Gouchers or Magness were ever quoted as saying they didn't see doping when asked 10 years ago? To avoid a double standard, that should be produced.....
I'm not an AlSal supporter, but can someone please explain this "explosive story" to me?
He thought the idea was crazy in 2006.
Dude rubs Rupps shoulders later on.
AlSal does tests.
Tests prove that idea is crazy. AlSal sleeps well.
Where is the conflicting viewpoints? Maybe I'm just a little slow today.
Thanks.

Has this even been verified or is it another of Al Sal's fictions?
Has anyone asked Whetstine about it?
I would agree this was interesting except for one key fact; the email from Salazar in 2009 after the tests were ran saying he'll sleep better now knowing that there isn't a chance of them being sabotaged at the big meets (exhibit 17 in his response) So unless you want to believe that he fabricated that email in 2009 to cover his tracks in the future related to the testing (possible but not plausible in my estimation) who cares at all what he thought in 2006? There is contemporaneous evidence that supports that he did the test in 2009 after Galen became concerned for the reason of fear of being sabotaged.
All that being said I think it's crazy and not defensible to run tests on your son for those purposes but the emails from the time support his explanation.
