Suguro Osako lost the men's 5000 at the Japanese champ. Salazar's less than stellar weak wasn't limited to just North America.

poor Suguro. Training fodder for the big boys, and he doesn't even get all the good Pharms to help recover
Osako. Five letters. Usada. Five letters.
Five Washington Lane.
The next clue is in the White House!

heynong man, don't jump to conclusions
Mo's Olympic and two World Championship 5000m golds may indicate otherwise.

Salazar is Cuban, it must be in JFK's section of the president's book of secrets.
half a second at 5000 meters. He got outkicked, not trounced.
Levins also not breaking any records at 5,000m
That being said, remember Ritz's phenomenal 5,000 performance in 2009 and Mo of course...

That is how Salazar has the program set up. Outer layers of fodder to deflect USADA investigators. No systematic doping going on at NOP. Only selective abuse using micro-doping by a very select few core individuals.

I saw the race on the Japanese sports news - they actually showed most of the race, not just a few seconds of the last lap - and from what I could tell they closed the last 800 pretty fast, almost as fast as the US champs (Hill ran 153+ for the last 2 laps?). Problem was the newscast blurred out the clock, but from what I saw the clock was at 1142-3 with 2 to go, making it 154ish for the last 800
Quite a douchey finish from the guy who won

That was a competitive race, Osako got outkicked in the last few meters and like in the U.S., the main goal is to make the team.
According to the link posted above, Osako passes 4200 at probably more like 11:37, not 11:42. You can see the clock hit 11:40 when he passes it (the clock), about 3s after passing the finish line. Not super precise but seems to match up well enough with the video player's clock. Likely a 1:59/2:00, maybe a high 1:58 absolute best (for Osako anyway).

Same reason Rupp stinks (relatively) in the 5000.
The event is UNDOPEABLE.
Not really. His track record coaching the marathon isn't great though.
