The problem is not the photo. It would be hilarious shared with friends of family. But to put it out on Twitter is ridiculous. It is so much more of the 'look at me' that permeates society.

The people most prone to complain about the "look at me" photos of pretty girls are old biddies and ugly girls. Geez, lighten up. It's not like it was a selfie in the mirror with her bra and panties. Fun for F's sake.
You're definitely right. Can't say much else here other than I agree.
I do wish there were more female runners on here, too. It'd be nice to hear from a female perspective more often.

You do know what Twitter is all about, right?
When you see chubby joggers going at it, do you mutter, "Those silly people, buying into the 'leaner is better' myth"? And when you see runners training for top performance, do you blurt out, "Too many people are into 'winning' and ego gratification"?
And actually, I'm offended by your post because it's clear you only wrote it to get people to consider YOUR opinion. Well piss off, ya SASHATARD!
I'm female and I come here all the time! I mostly just lurk though! There might be more girls than you think who read these boards

I do suspect you're right in that guys are more likely to post on message boards in general, and LetsRun in particular, than girls are.
Glad to know some females are out there, though. You should post more often. From my memory of HS, more girls were "into" the sport of running than guys were. Really, me and one other guy on the team even followed the sport.

The female perspective would be:
1. I am not hot enough to take that picture so I hate her
2. I am hot enough to take that picture so there's nothing wrong with it.
Sorry, but jealousy is the main female emotion.

And she ran with some local high school kids while there. That's pretty cool. You think anyone from NOP would do something like that?
Exactly! Emma Coburn is a great role model! She is an inspiration for all runners and a great role model for women. Emma is the kind of healthy, beautiful athlete that everyone should aspire to be like! She is strong, beautiful, kind, and hard working. We should celebrate the fact that she is so well-rounded instead of trolling on internet blogs about her being 'self-centered'. She is beautiful in every way and people love following her on social media. 30.3k followers on Instagram...I think she is doing something right!
What is interesting about Emma is that she seems to have controlled her image by keeping her good looks within the context of her sport. You do not see any glossy photo shoots of her or bikini shots. She has some pics (selfies and pro photos) that are revealing, but also show her muscles and athletic build. Or it could just be that the steeple chase is just too esoteric of an event to get any mainstream media attention. But there are plenty of female athletes who have definitely marketed their looks in a big way without any prompting from sponsors or media outlets. My guess is that Emma is just a very focused and dedicated athlete who is putting her running first and not worrying too much about her brand.

I'm gonna have to believe you're trolling. Come on, man.
