I really doubt that Gouchers wouldn't have been within any "inner core." Although perhaps they came to feel that Rupp was getting something beyond or above the gray zone "gimmicks" they were getting.

http://www.letsrun.com/forum/f...591&page=8I remember reading and article in the Boulder Daily Camera when Kara Goucher was a senior at UC (just before or after she won the NCAA XC). In the article, there was a reference to a procedure she underwent to overcome iron deficiency (if I recall correctly). The essence of the procedure sounds a lot like this platelet therapy. I remember thinking to myself (with my non-scientific brain), "That sounds a lot like blood doping."
It seemed too coincidental that she had this blood therapy and then kicked some ass.
Can anybody come up with that article?

LOL ... Sal's PR firm still working the attacking-your-opponent angle. Sorry, fools, the Goucher's were told by Salazar to get drugs (Cytomel) from Rupp who had plenty.

"Can anybody come up with that article?" is a 6/27/2009 post.
Kara didn't leave Salazar until Oct 05, 2011:

No, it is: The Gouchers tell us that they were told by Salazar that "blah, blah, blah."
Well, that's strange that she left Salazar to go to Schumacher then, since the Schumacher group has always also operated in the Gray Zone.

Now I understand what AlSal means by "core work".
Some people don't drink because they don't enjoy it and don't need it to be social. Remember Jules from Superbad?

They do. Centrowitz doesn't 'drink." The past and future have been erased, LOL.
You guys are freaks.
Centro doesn't drink. That doesn't mean he's never had a drink, but he just has never been into it. This isn't hearsay either. CENTRO DOESNT DRINK.
Now somebody will say I'm from Al Sal's Pr firm or something.
THIS ISN'T HEARSAY EITHER. Little Matt is no angel. In fact far from it.
Is that what distance running has come to? Caring about whether a runner drinks or not? Who his dad was friends with?
I don't understand why people care so much about this...who cares if he drinks a beer once in a while? It's actually proven that drinking one beer a day is actually beneficial. Nick Symmonds practically advertised himself drinking beer and picked up a World silver medal. Hahah it's too funny seeing all you guys being like "oh he definitely does drink" when I bet none of you actually know him personally...haha how would you know? You don't.
Also this pick that someone posted is badass, they're just having a good time haha chill out people. Bunch of bosses and I like how they're chillen with Barshim too.

This is typical PR propaganda. Present someone as pure as reasonable. It doesn't pass the smell test for people who know about running. The PR people don't care about the running community. They care about general perception of the more gullible non-running public.
Is Tegenkamp Blood Doping?
http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?board=1&thread=2863591&id=2864607#2864607
Ok, can we clarify a few things
- "Blood doping" is the practice of increasing RBC content of the blood, in order to increase the blood's oxygen carrying capacity
- The "rich platelet" therapy that Teg said he took does not increase RBC content of anything
- So it is not blood doping. For convenience we might call this therapy "blood spinning"
- The stated goal of the therapy is to speed healing (recovery, if you like) in the area where the platelets are injected
- We are not sure if it actually works. Maybe
- We are not sure if there could be any systemic healing effect outside of the local injection area. Maybe
- It does not appear to involve adding performance enhancing substances to the blood. Certainly it creates an opportunity for those so inclined.
- Regardless, faster healing does not directly improve fitness. Faster healing allows more training per unit time
- Meaning he still has to train in order to gain better fitness and achieve better race performances
- For these reasons the practice is not blood doping, nor is it very similar to blood doping
- Right now it is a legal practice
That is helpful. It goes to show that there is lots of speculation about different runners on this board or in recent interviews that cou have good explanations.

Never said he was. Who is? I'm just refuting what a bunch of idiots who don't know the man are claiming.
They're also saying he and his father don't communicate. Another totally false claim.
