Just when you think it can't get any worse it does, it seems hopeless at this point.
The only one who understood this kid was his HS coach. Time to go back... Like Webb. Stick with what works.

Too late.
It is just too painful too watch at this point. I wonder if he is looking forward to the day when his contract expires so that he can get away from this sport.
Did he look relaxed?

And Dave Smith for about of year haha
I think he's just getting really unlucky w/ these string of injuries and part of it is probably just mental
I like the way you work it (no diggity)
I got to bag it up

Bad achilles. For such harsh critics, I hope none of you guys ever have to experience it.
And Eric Avila ran 3:56.
Ouch.

I agree with you about the harsh critics and wish all the best for German. The only place we differ is that I hope the haters DO experience bad achilles.
I get it, if you have taken time of for injuries etc... But why on earth do workouts or race when you are either not A) fully healthy or B) fit enough to do so.... Preferably Both.
I mean I guess he finished?
No way. The heavy volume GF did in high school is the reason for all these garbage performances over the past few years. He ran so much in high school he just has nothing left. Kid is completely burned out.

Is this dude serious? wrote:

Was it the volume or the intensity of that volume? How much volume was it anyway? I want know.

Burning out is mental. Has nothing to do with high school mileage.
I'm a GF fan and would love to see him get back healthy and fit and compete nationally and even internationally. If he's still having injury problems or he's only in 3:5X shape for 1500m should he be competing?

You guys are seriously ignorant.
German DID NOT run heavy volume in high school. Nor were his workouts particularly intense for his abilities.
Some folks are just more prone to breaking down when training than others. German has been injury prone in HS, in college, and now as a pro.
What's the common denominator? Hint: It isn't the coaching.
Germans problem is that he grew about 3 inches from age 17 to 19. That hurt in a few ways. Less efficient. More injury prone.
Then don't race? If he ran 3:47 OK, then they mis-judged his fitness but from his workouts they should know that racing makes no sense at this point.

for Pete's sake...do you really think GF would have toed the line if his workouts indicated 3:57 shape? Really do you think that?
Probably his workouts indicated 3:45 shape or better, but like all too often, GF melted in a race situation.
Same thing with Mary Cain - she would never have toed the line if salazar thought she were in 4:16 shape. She was in 4:08 shape, but ran badly.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
I think Letesenbet Gidey might be trying to break 14 this Saturday
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
