Grew up in Eugene. Saw Burly run the first sub -4 at Hayward. Yesterday and today represent the greatest moment in Ducks athletic victory. Yes, even better than the Rose Bowls.
Watching the three Duck men nearly abreast on the home stretch of the 5 was thrilling, as was watching Jenna kill the 100 and then score 8 in the 2. I was at Hayward when the men of Oregon took the NCAAs in the sixties. This weekend was better.

I flew out from Michigan for the meet. The Eugene area and Hayward venue are beautiful and the teams and fans were friendly. I had an awesome week here.
anyone know why Claudia Francis left Oregon?
Every duck is a doper.
I saw Andre de Grasse put on probably the greatest one person performance in the history of the NCAA Championships. And from the same coach, I saw a freshman hurdler break the world junior record and another freshman finish fourth in the women's 100. And that's from Caryl Smith-Gilbert's first and only recruiting class so far. I think HS senior talent is going to be breaking her door down....
On the other hand, UCLA was outscored by the Harvard women 4-0. That's right, Bruins, UCLA scored ZERO points, and that's men and women combined. Even that powerhouse Savannah State managed to get ONE point. Time for another coaching change in Westwood?

Thank you for this. (And thank you for watching me race.)
This week was stunning. Sure we yelled and cheered, and then we just looked at each other in awe. (And we saw each other race, and watched the 84 and 85 titles.)

How sad that it seems your entire worth is derived from any Oregon success and you have to include yourself in any victory celebration.
What is Robert Johnsons background? He's doing an amazing job following in Vin's footsteps. Granted, I don't think it would be possible had VL not gotten the ball rolling, but has the student passed the professor?
Robert Johnson knows jack about mid-distance and distance running. Most of the success is Vin and really Andy Powell, where the bulk of the points come from. But clearly choosing the coaching staff has everything to do with success. Vin got Andy Powell from the farm days after all. It is the unspoken success behind great, rounded programs like Oregon. Certainly not Robert Johnson alone or even half way responsible in this case, at least in regards to the Oregon men's team. Women's team is RJ and others...
Oregon is damn good, but if they were not then everybody involved should be fired! Look at the advantages they have-NIKE, "Historic " Hayward field, Tracktown USA, twice the publicity of the rest of the colleges combined, home track advantage thru 2021 (would not surprise me if that is extended). The home track advantage is, to me, more of a recruiting advantage than anything else. How would Robert Johnson like it if the indoor was at Texas A&M or Arkansas every year?
Scholarships are the neutralizing factor. All schools have a shot to win just same and more times than not, none home track teams have won and home teams have lost.
The allure to Oregon is because success breeds success. That's how dynasties are made. Stanford/Cal swimming, Oregon running, SEC football...
But it is the responsibilities of other schools to win and that is squarely on them to figure out. Excuses have no place in relegating other teams to losing. They lose because they are not good. goes without saying...
So, you really don't think that having the meet at home thru 2021 and all the publicity that comes with it is an advantage? Really?
Oregon is great, I readily agree with that, but all I am wanting is a level playing field. Oregon doesn't need any extra help.

given that indoors has NEVER been at oregon and women have won 5 of the last 6, and the men won the last two, he would be fine
Next!
C-Francis left Oregon because she wasn't nearly as talented as her sister and wanted to be a big fish in a small pond either that or she just wasn't good anoef for Oregon track and field. Just a guess who knows?????// Also LOL at coach D for even thinking U$C is anywhere even close to Oregon track or any sport for that matter.
