True was an exceptional multi sport athlete at Dartmouth. He just needed to focus...and after a year attempting to make the US Ski Team he focused on running. He would jump from XC spikes to skis then track and was All American in all of them. And XC ski at that level requires strength, a huge engine, tactical sense to be able to shift gears constantly with changing terrain, be able to race in all kinds of bad bad weather, and especially the ability to sprint after 10,15 or 20K of all out racing.
