NCAA timing site says 1500 is currently under protest. I'm guessing this means Washington has filed one to try and get Yorks into the final.

I finally got an interview after heat #1 and boy was it worth it. Colorado's Ben Saarel was very introspective and said he needs to figure things out moving forward.
Thiss is a must watch interview
I don't have time to type up the quotes right now but getting out of the sport seemed like a potential option. He said he needs to figure out if he's tapped out or not and if so then he had a good run.
He also talks about school-running balance and possibly moving up to the 5k.
Sareel should definitely move up to the 5k.
What happened to Soratos and Williamsz in heat #1? They barely qualified.
Villanova's Jordan Williamsz - who took down King Chesrek at Penn Relays - was the last time qualifier today. However, he said he knew 7 were getting in out of heat #2 and he wanted to take it easy.
He said he doesn't view himself as the favorite. Coming in, his mindset was there are 24 guys in the race and therefore 24 favorites.
He said he doesn't want to be viewed as the guy who took down Ches at Penn Relays - he's more of a team guy and wants to be viewed as a guy who helped Villanova take down a stacked Oregon team.
Post-race interviews with:
Peter Callahan
David Elliott (heat 1 winner)

I think there was an interview a couple years ago where Saarel was criticized for being too moody and/or aloof. I said it then and took a lot of flak, but I'll say it again. This kid simply doesn't have what it takes mentally to be the best. He's too emotional, like a lot of guys we've seen. Sort of a Webb/Wheating complex. Really a shame too

He was playing it close and that was no guarantee.
Both Soratos and him were lucky.

Williamsz was comfortably enough ahead of the 8th place person in his heat and almost 5 seconds ahead of the 6th place person in the first heat. He knew he was in (and Soratos was ahead of him)
Thought Perkins looked really good at the West Regional, now I've gotta say he's very much a dark horse contender for the win. He at least has a VERY good shot at top 3; if something happens to one of either Soratos, Thrilliamz or Noelle I say he's a lock.
On that note, I kinda feel like Soratos isn't in quite as much the dominant position (omitting Cheserek) he occupied during indoors.
3rd in his heat at West Regions behind Noelle, 5th in his heat just now at Nat's qualifying for the final on time and not the NCAA leader in the 1500 (5th with an altitude converted time).
Regions is all about qualifying not winning - same deal at Nats - , and his converted 3:39 was from a not very competitive race at a DII school's meet - not to mention he's proven in the past that his converted times are more than legit - . So yeah, not really anything concrete among those concerns but I've just sort of got this funny feeling about him from watching him race so far outdoors.
I still gotta go with Williamz for the win though, kind of hard not to with the way he outkicked Cheserek from wayyyy behind in their race at Penn. The 3:36 Jordy is re-emerging.
goodnight, Pumpkin Pie
Interview with Stanley Kebenei here. He discussed the status of his injury (he had a flareup at regionals but feels fine) and how falling on the final barrier last year has motivated him to win it all in 2015.
I love Colorado and Wetmore, but this spring has gone terribly for them. They're such a great cross country team, and it looks pretty likely they'll get zero track points.

I like you.

Aha. I mistakenly thought they were in the first heat.
BROMELL!!!
That's a new WJR right? He's still 19 but is his birthday too late in the year or something for this to count as the record?
Either way, Bromell gives me hope for fast CLEAN times in the 100.
Wow the first heat of the men's 100 was SUPER FAST.
Name Affiliation Time
Trayvon Bromell Baylor 9.90 Q
Andre De Grasse USC 9.98 Q
Jarrion Lawson Arkansas 10.04
Tremayne Acy LSU 10.16
Christian Coleman Tennessee 10.19
Ryan Billian Buffalo 10.41
William Buckley Appalachian State 10.45
John Teeters Oklahoma State -
Wind 1.7
Now they probably caugh a HUGE break with the wind being legal. The wind is huge right now and going up and down. The guy in the long jump right after the race got a 3.7 (samuels). The one after that 4.0.
The one's before the 100 were 1.7 and 2.7.
So u get a 1.7 when the gauge records but have bigger before and after.

The commentators lack of awareness of how fast 9.90 legal is blows my mind.
