Searched "Alberto Salazar" on cnn.com, usatoday.com, and for grins, foxnews.com. No mention of this. Buried in the Olympic Sports section of espn.com. Has not crossed in to the mainstream.

Get a job, hippy!
Wejo, check out Ashland if you can. Kind of a nice hippy town, and home of SOU.

It's on NYTimes.com
So the bartender says, "Why the long face?"

So it's mainstream in Britain, but not in the US. Thanks for making my point. And to the guy who mentioned the NY Times, not mainstream.
Alberto shoudl encourage an investigation, what is there to hide?
or
The athletes should distance themselves, ala Cain
A lot of mainstream people who were around in the 80s remember Salazar very well. Since his family bailed out of Cuba, the government and the media were happy to put him out there as a Cold War propaganda victory for the U.S., and it really was kind of a cool story for sure. His Boston and NYC wins were mainstream news for sure.
More recently, everyone was reminded of him with the story of his heart attack and death in 2007. Just a year before, everyone saw Salazar in the news when he served as a pacer for Lance Armstrong for a good chunk of Armstrong's NYC Marathon. (I wonder what they talked about?)
Anyhow, yeah, people know Salazar. I don't think there will be mainstream shock over it, but a lot of people definitely will be like, "yeah, I remember that dude". 98% of those same people, however, will have never heard of NOP and will totally not care about the runners he's been coaching.
Anyhow, at this point, no one's really surprised about doping in any sport anymore. Which in itself is the most disturbing thing, probably.
The oldest continuously run 1/2 marathon in Oregon was started one night in a small bar in Spray, Oregon. Two teachers were at the Spray rodeo and were arguing over who was the fastest runner. The next day they got up and raced from Spray to Service Creek. The race now starts in Service Creek and ends in Spray. It has been going on for 51 years.
Reminds me of the time last month when I was in a small town in North Carolina.
Guy at the bar says to his friend, "What do you think about the Greek debt situation?"
His friend says, "Looks like that dude, ya know, the Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis, is playing hardball. But I think Angela Merkel will still hold them accountable and will make them implement the austerity plan, thus averting a bond default".
There's a long pause. Then the first guy says, "So what are you doing this weekend?" The other guy: "Watching NASCAR and scratching my balls."

Astoria!
Isn't that The Goonies hometown?
I want to go there!
Its the 30th Anniversary of the Goonies in Astoria this weekend. Big celebration going on.

Come up to Beaverton this weekend and let's go for a run.
Yeah, and Wejo can stop in and say hello to Alberto while he's in town.
Wejo, you might spend a little time, while in Florence, brushing up on your journalism ethics. They are sorely lacking at this point.
BTW, who is doing the censoring while you are down there? I've been noticing that all the pro-NOP, pro-Salazar posts and threads last a short time before they disappear.
was it billy bowerman?!
Come on out to the CO. You can visit Smith Rock State Park and I can put you to work on the Ranch.
BeInSports which does the Diamond League in the US this year has a highlight show each night that focuses a lot on soccer.
They obviously have DL highlights and had Rome highlights yesterday. However they spent it seemed as much time on the Salazar accusations. They didn't even show Simpson winning the 1500 but I saw a couple minutes on Salazar.
Hey, Wejo.
Florence is 59th out of 242 cities in Oregon; it's just 1300 people away from being # 50.
Make sure you go to Mo's for some chowder.
To be fair, tall bikes and adult dodgeball leagues are also mainstream in Oregon.
Drive up the coast to Manzanita(San Dune Pub) and Cannon Beach and then onto Astoria. Cross the bridge into Washington and check out Ilwaco and maybe Long Beach.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
