Good on you, OP.
The Hoka isn't my everyday trainer, but it's a solid shoe, and I love what they're contributing to the US racing scene right now.
The NB Fresh Foam shoes are also great.
(Buy them from you local running store, the starving long hair behind the counter will be happy to see you)
I am with the whole "no more nike shoes" but I love the wild horse and terra kiger. Anyone have a suggestion for similar shoes for trail?
La Sportiva Helios is similar to wildhorse, I think. I like them a lot and sizing is about the same (once you make the EU to US conversion...)
Aside from spikes, Nike makes terrible shoes. Brooks is the next worst. Any company you go with will be better than those two. Asics, NB, Adidas, Reebok, Mizuno, Saucony, all have far superior spikes. Probably want to go with Saucony or NB for spikes.
Completely agreed with you... until you said Reebok. As far as spikes go, Saucony, NB and Nike are the front runners. Brooks is trying but the quality isn't great. Saucony's new ISO shoes are ridiculously comfortable.

Thanks, I will check them out!

You really won't run in Nike anymore?
Maybe you want some kind of Russian commie shoe then.
Nike is the brand of AMERICAN Champions. If you are against Nike, you are against the U-S-A and henceforth you can suck it, brother!
You should go with New Balance to get shoes actually made in the US.
As much as I love other shoe companies (especially Brooks) it's hard to say that those companies wouldn't do more medically for their athletes if they had the same money Nike does. Who is to say that their hiring practices are so much better that the coaches, doctors, and athletes they employ aren't subject to the kind of corruption being levied against Nike? Hiring a competitive staff is a very gray area.
Based on the companies own mission statements, though, I have to like Brooks and ASICS more than many other companies.
adidas trainers
Saucony spikes
New Balance apparel
The only way Nike will listen and start cleaning up its act is if we hit them where it hurts - the bottom line. Yes, Nike is a massive company and we will likely not have much of an impact, but that doesn't mean it will go unnoticed. Support the companies that are doing it right!
Yup, agree as well.Best shoes I have ever owned.Whether it's the Supernovas, Bostons or Adios they always serve me well.

Bostons or Adios to train in, Hagios for speedwork and tempos. They're light, durable as hell, and seem to have the lowest injury correlation from the people I have trained with.
^this
Went from Nike Peg's to Adidas Supernova Glide Boost 6's and am extremely happy. Getting the Boston Boost's soon for tempos.
I also use Brooks Pureflow's and have always enjoyed them. Use Nike Victories for 3k and down and use NB LD5000's for steeplechase and up. Very good distance spikes.
I would recommend Brooks shoes, I have been using them for 40 years.
Currently wearing Nike shoes and not looking to keep supporting a company that encourages doping? Not sure what shoes you should switch to? Here's a quick guide:

Tired of doping ruining our sport??? Hit Nike where it hurts. Make them realize that they need to clean up the sport. Reward the companies that are doing it right.

He is likely not talking about spikes. And saying Brooks makes the next worst shoes is laughable. You may not like them, but they easily have the best shoes across the entire line and to say they are one of the worst shows you don't know what you're talking about.
HOKA ONE ONE!! bondi
Just ordered some adidas, saucony and new balance gear.

You only need one brand and that brand is Puma. That's the only shoe that real athletes wear.
The posers who strive to be the best at exercising wear anything other than Puma.
If you don't wear Puma, then you are not a real athlete.
i will never buy nike again

Generally true, but the Streak LTs are awesome all-around shoes.
