What is BCC? I've heard of BBC.

I can't imagine what they must be thinking.
Perhaps "Does Mary want to transfer to Princeton, or would she be happier at Columbia?"
I'm blanking on her boyfriend's name - anyone know where he's headed in the fall?
They think "damn, we're busted".
I bet Salazar tried to get MC to use drugs to lose weight -
I think MC is done with the NOP - she has to leave to save her career
I feel for this girl right now. There is likely no way she or her parents could've known they were grabbing a snake by the tail when she signed with Salazar.
She's not going back to Portland. That's for certain.
Wasn't her 2nd choice to go to Oregon if she didn't go pro if so YEAH come TO OREGON MARY CAIN GO DUCKS
Of course we don't have the facts from Cain, but hopefully no one would be naive enough to think that the announcement of MC's "break" from the NOP & today's scathing news is purely coincidence.
'We made a mistake but there's still time ti fix it.'
Nike will pull the plug on NOP, freeing Mary. BBC isn't the farm team.
I'm sure droves of authentic press writers want to interview Mary Cain.
Actually you aren't the person they are upset with. I talked to them. They said you are welcome to come talk to them whenever you feel ready. They really don't recall a lot of what happened years ago. They know that if you don't come I am going to leave. If you do come I will stay because then I know you will protect my home.

She never signed with Salazar. She signed with Nike. Her Nike contract might be tied to being in the NOP, but she didn\'t sign with Salazar.
She also signed with agent Ricky Simms. But since Ricky represents almost all the other athletes in the NOP, and Alberto hand-delivered Cain to him, I doubt he would have given Dr. and Mrs. Cain any reason to think twice about continuing with Alberto.

Benito Muniz is going to Oklahoma State.
Regarding this situation, I don't think Mary's break is related to this story. The most logical explanation is still her poor season, and I imagine that Salazar made an effort to conceal these activities from her for the time being. After she had settled into NOP for a few years, he would gradually coerce her into this kind of doping. Moving forward, I think there's a very good chance that she'll end up leaving NOP.

Except for every story about Salazar being a complete scumbag over the last 40 years.
Anybody who thinks Mary Cain (or her advisers) didn't know what she was getting into is extremely naive. Given her level of talent she had plenty of resources available to explain the options available to her. That said it is unknown to what extend her involvement in this program entails. I don't have explicit details of the NOP program, but I find it hard to believe you show up on day one and they give you a starter kit of drugs. Surely there's a feedback process where both coaches and athletes find that approach to be mutually beneficial and then go from there. Perhaps she's involved, perhaps she wasn't, but whichever choice was hopefully a thought-out, cognitive, decision.
I was a little surprised when I told them we are friends. That I went to see you a few weeks ago. I thought they'd be at least concerned. NOPe.
It was like- it nice that you made up and that you now have a friend.
:)
And they know you knew about me in my car. They knew I was gypsy'n it up too. I love my parents :) and after all this, my mom asked why you felt the need to apologize to them. Lol. Yeah. They think it's enough to apologize to only me. It was like, they were borderline ready to have us start dating. I know. That's my parents

Got it - thanks for the info. Kind of a tough location if they're going to continue the long distance thing.
My best guess is that Mary Cain transfers to an academically-oriented university on the east coast [an ivy, Hopkins or similar], backs off the competitive running for a while and sorts out her priorities. Her family can afford the tution, and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if a few years from now she's a med student who runs a few NYRR races for NYAC.
Claim: Mary Cain never exactly chose running, it chose her. She likes the sport fine but I've never gotten the sense she loves it, and being part of NOP made it very clear to her big a commitment the pro running life is. Maybe she'll go back to that life some day, but she isn't ready to make that kind of commitment now. Would be very funny if she sought the input of Mary Decker, a runner she's mentioned as one of her heroes / inspirations.
