I really hope for Steve's sake, that he was right. That's kind of career suicide if he is wrong? But I must say for as smart and how scientific Steve is, he would be one to recognize abnormalities and understand what is going on. Good for him, I respect him even more now.
Why would it be career suicide? He just explained events that transpired while he was with NOP.
"Kara Goucher, the most prominent female runner in America," ?? I guess that's debatable. I'd go with Allyson Felix or Sanya Richards-Ross.
Well, it would certainly not endear him with Nike, for starters

Rowbury was cheating with Cook, so....
The house of cards is coming down...
Galen on testosterone and prednisone in HS? That was the only thing that really surprised. All the rest of it is sort of expected.
Don't forget the part about her "aiming for the 2016 Olympics."

Again I don't think there's is much doubt that Salazar is bending, or pushing ot the limit, of the rules. But the fact that there is no one is accusing him of administering EPO kind of limits "Salazar is a cheater" view.
Why do you think the Rupp wanted the IV saline drip so bad in London? Don't think it was for the hydration, so hmm what else might it do? Oh, to lower hematocrit, why would he need to do that?

Floyd Mayweather did the exact same thing May 1st, the day before his fight with Pacquiao.
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/boxing/floyd-mayweather--manny-pacquiao-pass-all-drug-tests-182400390.html"Mayweather also applied for, and was given, a therapeutic use exemption (TUE) for rehydration purposes after the May 1 weigh-in. He took two separate mixes. The first was a mixture of 250 ml of saline and multi-vitamins. The second was a 500 ml mixuture of saline and Vitamin C. He was urine tested both before and after taking the solutions."

so the question is if there is enough for usada to do anything
or is this just smoke that evaporates when investigated?
without a poz test it's hard to do much unless they can build a pretty solid case on witnesses, confessions etc.
for ex WANTING kara to go on drugs is not the same as actually doing it.
or
if Rupp had tested positive and then said he was taking an over the counter product that had the word testo in it..that's something. but he never did test positive.

I'm surprised by how many people are shocked that Galen was doping in HS. Top guys in HS, and I mean just on the state level, are on steroids. They lift with, or are friends with, guys on the football team. It's an easy path, and actually very common.

It happens, but it's not common for distance runners at that age. The reason guys NEED steroids beyond age 25 is for recovery. Younger guys produce enough hormones where that's not an issue.
One piece of circumstantial evidence I always went back to that Rupp was clean (at least in the "gray area" legal) was his 13:37 in HS. Now it looks like that is a dirty record, along with all of his latter ones.
At least Gerry can have a big laugh at this one:
5000 METERS
13:37.91 Galen Rupp (Central Catholic, Portland, Oregon) 2004
13:44.0 Gerry Lindgren (Rogers, Spokane, Washington) 1964
13:44.70 Dathan Ritzenhein (Rockford, Michigan) 2001
13:51.69 ————Ritzenhein 2001
13:52.85 ————Rupp 2004
13:52.8 Steve Prefontaine (Marshfield, Coos Bay, Oregon) 1969
13:55.32 ————Rupp 2004
13:55.65 John Zishka (Lancaster, Ohio) 1980
13:55.96 Chris Derrick (Neuqua Valley, Naperville, Illinois) 2008
13:57.04i *Edward Cheserek’ (St. Benedict’s, Newark, New Jersey) 2012

george oscar bluth wrote:(Kara Goucher) remembers what Salazar said one night in 2011 as a group of Oregon Project runners gathered in an altitude training house in Park City, Utah, to watch "60 Minutes" as Lance Armstrong's teammate Tyler Hamilton detailed the team's doping. Salazar, she says, "was like, 'Tyler's just trying to sell books and he'll write about Lance'." Then, she says, Salazar added, "I mean, of course Lance is dirty" almost as an afterthought. But Goucher says it was clear who Salazar thought was in the wrong. "Tyler was this bad person," she says.
Yeah. That quote was pretty telling. I thought the thing about the pills hidden in the novel was the most sketchy part, myself (if that was really Galen's reaction).
It airs on the BBC at 21:00 BST = 20:00 GMT = 5 pm Eastern = =2 pm Pacific.
It's not listed on BBC World News or the BBC YouTube channel.
I now have the theory that Rupp backs out of races because they got his drug cycle wrong and they fear he could test positive.
LOTS of pros applauding the piece on the Twittersphere

Boxers severely dehydrate themselves to make weight before a fight. There is a sound rationale for getting a saline drip. Also, let's not rule out that Floyd was on EPO himself. That late fight endurance comes in handy when you dance around the ring for 12 rounds, and for a $250 million payday you know he isn't going to leave anything to chance.
Extremely important to recognise that Mo Farah is not accused of anything at all.
