Obviously this is the front page story, but how many of you believe Gay was unaware of his steroid use? He is quoted talking about his difficult year (while on suspension) and says "It was about the fact that people believed I was full of steroids and stuff like that, and no one considered it was a mistake ... that just broke me down." Is he being honest, or just acting innocent?
Was Tyson Gay aware of His Steroid Use?

lol of course he was aware. Gay is just talking the usual rubbish a lot of drug cheats do.
-
Ask Barry Bonds.
I'm sure he noticed something when his dribblers started breaking the sound barrier. -
When you can lift 50 percent more overnight you will notice. When your body gets more muscular quickly you can notice. When you don't feel like you are dragging yourself to finish a hard workout you will notice.

Not aware, the poor guy is dumb as a rock. Jr College out of HS is your first hint.

Such a bummer. Thought Tyson was handling this different than ARod, Lance, Marion, Justin…..NO reason he should get a free pass on this. Was a BIG fan, but now will be waiting for Wejo to hit him hard just like Gatlin.

With drug testing being close to 100% useless and anyone with basic knowledge having the ability to beat them with flying colors every time the only thing that might help are lifetime bans for first offences no exceptions. This is a step in the right direction. The athletes know they can get away with it the trainers know they can get away with it the health effects are not remotely close to what the media has demonized them to be and there is monetary incentive so everyone uses. Athletes like Justin Gatlin and Tyson Gay and Asafa Powell getting busted for "tainted supplements" or "anti-aging creams" or "mystery drinks" they "unknowingly received" are elaborate PR stunts to preserve there public image after a screw up in there doping regimens. What is actually going on is they know exactly what they are doing and taking and lying about it. These athletes have advanced and precise drug regimens with regular weekly injections with multiple different compounds directly geared toward their phase of training optimized at every point of the training cycle all the way up to stepping on the line of the world championship or Olympic final. The fact that these athletes are ever allowed to step on a track again is a joke.

He knew. His coach knew. His agent knew. The DL meets probably even knew his "cycle".
-
The rules allow them to get reduced sanctions if they weren't aware, so of course they say that.
But in doing so he was also shifting the blame onto Drummond, who got an 8 year ban. -
Why is he not " Drug Cheat" Tyson Gay to the Brojos anymore?

Can we just let everyone juice up and see how fast the human body can go? I want to see 80 hr's. I want to see 9.28. I want to see 18.9. Just accept it...these people are entertainers and not role models.

Remind me what he tested positive for...Wikipedia is of no help here. I seem to vaguely recall him testing positive for DHEA, which is of little to no value to young athletes and which one could easily be unaware one was taking, but it's very, very difficult to believe one could run 9.69 on DHEA alone unless tracks have gotten much, much faster than they were in the 80s... -

Bodybuilding is such a sport.
As the athletes have gotten ever-larger, however, the paying audiences have gotten ever smaller. Long gone are the days when pro bodybuilding shows were covered by network TV.
Part of this may have to do with the ugliness of the current crop of physiques--a problem which would not affect male track and field athletes*, but certainly would affect women (Jarmila, anyone?).
A bigger issue is the massive degree of discomfort "society" has in accepting an open arms race in PEDs among athletes.
*A few events, such as the shot put, might favor bodybuilder-like drug consumption; most would not. -
If he wasn't aware, he should have been.
That's his responsibility. Just like a QB not knowing air was removed from a ball. Or a thrower not knowing a light implement made it into competition. Disappointing he didn't man up here.
So far he's cost an Olympic relay team medals, and a college team a national title. In the twilight of your career it might be time to take some responsibility. The greatness is in the past, now he's just creating the legacy he'll leave behind. What a pitty. -
Going to Juco doesn't make him dumb!!! You turd!!
-
I wish people would leave him alone.
Yes, he made a mistake. He regrets it.
The mistake was he trusted someone he should not have trusted.
Happens to the best of us.
In the end, did he want to cheat - no. Tainted supplements.
In the end, he still put in the effort in the gym, lifted big and got the PHYSIQUE to show for. -
Going to Juco may not make him dumb, but he is dumb
-
We'll never know, but I don't buy his claim of ignorance.
