Not over, but with some of the (semi) finals in the books, we have some qualifiers.
Who are the big winners and losers on the team sides? What about individuals?

Thanks for starting the thread. We changed the title to make it official.
Mascari from Indiana state, 8th in XC, not making it in the 10k.
Air Force Hannah Everson won the west 10k and alex amekwah (not sure how to spell name) from alabama (the guy who won SEC in the 800) failed to qualify
Why isn't my thread, started at the end of competition last night, the official one? That actually has some content to it. Track isn't all about "surprises and flops."
Why did New Mexico kid get DQ from men's 10k?

Get over yourself. This is a different thread subject. Your thread can exist beside it.
Anyway one flop was Moussa at 10k. He was 5th at cross and won Pac12 10k. Maybe he will fare better over 5k, I hope he does.
OK. Here's a little analysis of the men's 10k in the West. Except for Kemoy Campbell's DNF which is discussed here -
http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=6525250
- it went VERY much according to form.
7 of the top 8 advanced (Kemoy DNF) and the other qualifiers were Colorado's Pierce Murphy (#11), Oregon's Cheserek and Jenkins (TOTALLY expected). and Wisco's Malachy Schrobilgen (#30 seed but a stud) and BYU's Spencer Gardner (41st seed).
So the only true surprise was Gardner, who has a 14:10 pb for 5k. But it makes sense that the big susprise advancer making it was Gardner who was a state champion in HS in 2007 as he's probably at least 25 years of age.

Looking at the East women's 10k, there were a couple of casualities seeded in the top 5 as Cornell's Caroline Kellner and George Mason's Bethany Sachtleben didn't make it.
But if you take a look at it, them not advancing isn't that stunning.
Two of three women not ranked in the top 15 who advanced are simply better runners than Kellner (16:23 5k pb) and Sachleben (16:21 5k pb) based on 5k pbs as one was Butler's Mara Olson (1547 5k pb) and the other Providence's Laura Nagel (1542 5k pb).
The big kudos go to Davidson's Lauren Osment (16:32 5k pb) who advanced as the #28 seed.

In terms of the 1500s, here are you casualties. The following people seeded in the top 10 didn't move on from day 1 (there is another round).

# 7 Simon Holden SO Wake Forest 3:41.92 - didn't qualify
#9 Sean Tobin SO Mississippi 3:42.17 - didn't qualify
It's also worth noting that #15 seed Sam Mcentee who ran 3:36 at the famous Swarthmore meet as a freshman failed to make it to the NCAA finals for the 2nd straight year.
Who would have thought that a guy who ran 3:36 as frosh would onliy score 2 point s at NCAA outdoors in his career (7th as soph)?

I'm pleasantly surprised that Pons finished as high as he did. He had a strong start in the XC season where I felt he was a contender for the Heps XC individual title. He has yet to win an individual conference title but he managed to get a spot on the podium behind other strong Ivy runners like Awad (Penn), King (Dartmouth), and his teammate McDonald. I'm surprised no other Ivies made the 10k cut, but glad Pons turned out a solid race to make it.
