And I suppose that you think that everything in Germany (a country which was under military occupation and could not even compete in the preceding 1948 Olympics) was hunky dory in the 10 years following the end of WW2? Conditions in England were no worse than any other country in Western Europe at that time (food rationing etc). Even the US had very hard rationing througout WW2 and yet Bob McMillen still won a silver medal in the final. Like RB, all of the other 1500m guys were training under difficult conditions during 1952 - it was pretty much a level playing field from that perspective.
