I can imagine kids could OD (or get bored by the longer races), but Friday nights are fun. The crowd's not as big, so it's not crazy that way, but everyone who's there is pretty hard-core, so they are into it. Plus you can take them to Sweet Life for cupcakes afterwards.
PS Be sure and tell your kids some old f**t on the internet hopes they realize how pretty lucky they are to have such thoughtful parents! -

Ooops! You are right -- they are part of the story, and should not be forgotten. They both went under 4:00 in 2009 after the Pre, and then Wurth-Thomas went under 4:00 again in 2010. -

I believe 4:02 is possible this season, it has been the goal since last year. When she opened with a 4:09 I felt like 3:59 might be possible this season. This opinion was mainly due to my knowledge of the training we had done to that point. I also know that Alexa's sickness this winter set her on a completely different trajectory, so we will see. It's going to be an amazing race. To the person who referenced Webb, I love the comparison to his senior year. We'll see!!!

First, thanks for being brave enough to post on Let's Run's MB!
Second, it was me who referenced Webb's 2001 Pre race.
I was there in person.
In fact, at one point, I sat right in front of Webb & his lady friend.
My reference was to the challenge, both mentally & physically, of a HS kid running against the best miler (El G) in the world!
Here you'll have Alexa running against MANY of the world's best---the only big one missing is Genzebe Dibaba!
She could replicate Webb and finish 5th (or 6th or even 7th!!) and still get a VERY fast time----maybe the 4:02 you suggested!
She looked VERY strong in her 2 recent 800's.
So maybe she's ready for something amazing!

FWIW, I don't see any evidence that Nike treats Brooks differently from any other shoe company.
Well, there was the "incident" at the Trials when Brooks hired a plane with a banner behind it with the Brooks slogan and flew it over Hayward Field for about an hour - and security subsequently escorted the Brooks Execs out of the stadium. There's that. There definitely is no love lost between the two companies. At least Nike isn't punishing Brooks athletes for the bad blood between the two companies.
