Why can't they do the races tomorrow?
Couldn't they try to carry on tomorrow morning or something?
Rain tomorrow morning too. Should clear up tomorrow night however.
The sun has gone down and the moon has come up
And long ago somebody left with the cup
But he's driving and striving and hugging the turns
And thinking of someone for whom he still burns....
He's going the distance
Probably no lightning though so I don't know.
I haven't seen resent photos of Cain, but she is two years older now and that women thing that destroys female runners may be happening to her.
The RoJo statement that talent doesn't go away, may be true for men, but not for women.
Nature takes that talent away when it makes young girls women.
Sad, real sad. Her 1500 times are almost the same as her mile time was two years ago.
There is nothing the AlSal camp can do to beat Mother Nature.
Not that one day is a big deal, but something I'm curious about - guys that haven't raced in the meet yet, like Rupp, probably didn't do much training today. Now that their events have been cancelled, what do they do? Bag the day? Go out and get their run/workout in anyway, in the deluge? Will the organizers even let them on the track at all?
Just curious what they will do in a situation like this.
Al Sal probably has contingency plans worked out in advance. Probably an indoor facility in the area to do a workout in.
Treadmills!

Wait what? If I was one of the athletes I'd try to get together whoever I was supposed to race and do it old school style the next day. They really can't just do it tomorrow? That's so odd!
"Grunewald fouls another victim by pushing and cutting off Sifuentes in heat 2."
- I saw this as well. What a turd. She has zero awareness.
I don't know the status of the lightning but honestly this is like half of Oregon's home meets. I don't understand why southern California shuts down with a little rain. Including this meet.
When I lived down there the news would start telling people to stock up on food and water when some heavy rain was in the forecast. I'd also have meetings at work canceled when it was raining.
Always seemed super odd to me.
I've even been in CA meets where there's been intense downpour and the race has gone on. Seems kind of arbitrary when they pull it or not.
I would think that the 5000-meter folks would try and make alternate plans

What if the internet required breathalyzers?
It sure would be great to verify who posts under the influence and who doesn't...
It's way too early to tell with Cain.
I was there tonight. Weather was great for the early races. 60 degrees and virtually no breeze. Dark threatening clouds were hanging nearby. At the end of the men's first 1500m heat, the skies opened up with a heavy downpour that looked like a long rain, not a brief shower. Not really much lightning or thunder. One flash of lightning surprised everyone, and two claps of thunder.
