It would suck
Then it would be traveling the same speed as the California Bullet Train.
The U.S. train operator decided to take a curve rated for 50 mph, at over 100 mph. Someone had a death wish.

Okay man, you do this in almost every thread. In the beginning I kind of liked the idea as it appeared you were trying to "out" dumb, troll-ish threads for what they were. But then you ruined it by doing it in totally fine, normal threads that weren't troll threads at all (like this one).
In short, you have become the very thing you seemed to detest. An annoying troll.
This isn't a troll thread ? Do you really think there is anyone old enough to type complete sentences that doesn't know what would happen if a bullet train derailed at 300 MPH ? Really ?
Think aeroplane striking solid ground at 500 kph...

Nice one . . . It would also catch fire faster than our tax dollars.
The driver and his wife would have to slice his guts in front of TV cameras. The CEO and President of the bullet train company would follow.

The passengers had better hope the giant Gila monster and the giant black scorpions really were destroyed back in the 1950s. If that train runs into those atomic age mutants, it'll be the same result as it was it was in those old sci-fi flicks. That Gila monster and those stop action scorpion figures sure did make short work of those model trains, didn't they? Ahhhhh!

Damn cut-and-paste.
Why is the "Amtrack" train driver even able to go 50 mph over the "speed limit"? It doesn't seem like it would take much technology to limit the max speed of the train in certain areas. A terrible tragedy no matter what.
I have to believe that the Japanese don't have a minimum wage union worker with complete control of the speeding bullet train.
They do have that technology where it can override the engineer but it wasn't installed on this track yet.
I still don't know if it was operator error or mechanical.

It has happened. Twice. There have been two derailments in the fifty-year history of commercial operation of the Shinkansen, due to an earthquake and a blizzard, respectively. Neither incident resulted in any casualties.
Incidentally, the maximum operating speed of any Shinkansen is 200mph.
Did the driver die? I haven't seen this information in any of the articles.

No I don't think so. They are debriefing him now I believe. I could be wrong.

How the crap did people not die? Were they going at speed?
